The study of genetic variation attempts to describe barriers to gene flow including physical features such as oceans, mountains and geographic distance. We studied the genetic variation at four microsatellite loci of four populations of the endangered Pinus elliottii v. densa in order to understand the relationship between geographic distance and genetic variation between the populations.
