Abstract

Carnosine (beta-alanyl-L-histidine), which is present in millimolar concentrations in skeletal muscles, induces Ca2+ release from the heavy fraction of rabbit skeletal muscle sarcoplasmic reticulum by activation ruthenium red-sensitive Ca-release channels.
