author={Seyedeh Mahsa Hosseini and Mohsen Kafi and Masoud Arghavani},
Salicylic acid is involved in plant responses to abiotic stress such as drought, cold, heavy metal poisoning, heat and osmotic stress. This study carried out to investigate the effect of salicylic acid on physiological characteristics of Lolium grass (Lolium perenne cv. “Numan”) under drought stress. A factorial experiment in a completely randomized design with four replications was performed. The treatments consisted of three salicylic acid levels (0.0, 0.75, and 1.5 mm) and drought stress…

Salinity Tolerance of Kentucky Bluegrass as Affected by Salicylic Acid
Salinity is one of the greatest environmental challenges facing plant growth and development in the 21st century. Salicylic acid (SA) is a phenolic compound and signal molecule involved in the
Morphological and Physiological Traits of Catharanthus roseus L. at Different Irrigation Intervals as Affected by Salicylic Acid Application
Given the detrimental impacts of water deficit stress at irrigation intervals of 6 and 8 days, it is recommended that SA be applied to improve the growth of Catharanthus.
21 Exogenous Salicylic Acid Ameliorates the Adverse Effects of Salt Stress on Antioxidant System in Rosmarinus officinalis L
Salt stress is one of the fundamental limiting factors in agricultural crop production throughout the world. It causes water deficit, ion toxicity, and nutrient deficiency, leading to growth, yield
Exogenous salicylic acid modifies gas exchange and biomass production of Mentha x piperita L.
Peppermint (Mentha x piperita L.) is a medicinal plant that produces an essential oil used as an additive in food and pharmaceutical formulations. Salicylic acid is a phenolic compound widely
Effects of exogenously applied plant growth regulators in combination with PGPR on the physiology and root growth of chickpea (Cicer arietinum) and their role in drought tolerance
It is inferred that PGPR and PGR work synergistically to promote growth of plants under moisture and nutrient deficit condition of sandy soil.
Recent Breakthroughs in the Study of Salicylic Acid Biosynthesis under Changing Environment: A Review
Salicylic acid, a naturally occurring plant hormone of phenolic nature acting as an important signaling molecule adds to tolerance against abiotic stresses (such as heavy metals, ozone, UV-B
Native Heavy Metal-Tolerant Plant Growth Promoting Rhizobacteria Improves Sulla spinosissima (L.) Growth in Post-Mining Contaminated Soils
The potential of rhizobacteria in assisting plants used in the phytostabilization or re-vegetation of soils contaminated by heavy metals is gaining interest all around the world. In this context, six

Application of salicylic acid increases contents of nutrients and antioxidative metabolism in mungbean and alleviates adverse effects of salinity stress
Salicylic acid (SA), a naturally occurring plant hormone, is an important signal molecule known to have diverse effects on biotic and abiotic stress tolerance. Its growth-promoting effect on various
Effect of salicylic acid applied through rooting medium on drought tolerance of wheat
Application of salicylic acid through the rooting medium significantly reduced the root K + of two cultivars under both normal and water deficit conditions and did not mitigate the adverse effects of drought stress on growth of both cultivars, though genotype MH-97 showed some recovery under water stress conditions.
Physiological role of exogenously applied glycinebetaine to improve drought tolerance in fine grain aromatic rice (Oryza sativa L.)
Drought tolerance in rice was strongly related to the maintenance of tissue water potential and antioxidant system, which improved the integrity of cellular membranes and enabled the plant to maintain high photosynthesis.
Effects of Salicylic Acid on Heat Tolerance Associated with Antioxidant Metabolism in Kentucky Bluegrass
The results suggest that SA application enhanced heat tolerance in Kentucky bluegrass and SA could be involved in the scavenging of AOS by increasing SOD and CAT activities under heat stress.
Influence of Salicylic Acid on Stress Tolerance During Seed Germination of Triticum aestivum and Hordeum vulgare
Improved acclimation of SA-pre-treated plants to salt stress depended on the activation of the antioxidative and accumulation of ionic and non-ionic osmolytes, and a relationship between antioxidant glutathione and salt tolerance was observed in both plants.
Salicylic Acid Induces Salinity Tolerance in Tomato (Lycopersicon esculentum cv. Roma): Associated Changes in Gas Exchange, Water Relations and Membrane Stabilisation
SA, when used in appropriate concentrations, alleviates salinity stress without compromising the plants ability for growth under a favourable environment, indicating possible protection of integrity of the cellular membrane.
Silicon alleviates salt stress, decreases malondialdehyde content and affects petal color of salt-stressed cut rose (Rosa xhybrida L.) Hot Lady
A greenhouse experiment was conducted to investigate the effects of different levels of silicon (Si) application on cut rose (Rosa xhybrida L.) ‘Hot Lady’ under two levels of salt stress. Four Si
Acetyl salicylic acid (Aspirin) and salicylic acid induce multiple stress tolerance in bean and tomato plants
The fact that seedimbibition with SA or ASA confers stress tolerance in plants is more consistent with a signaling role of these molecules, leading to the expression oftolerance rather than a direct effect.
