The dynamics of inflammatory cytokines such as interleukin-1α (IL-lα, interleukin-1β (IL-1β), interleukin-6 (IL-6) and tumor necrosis factor-alpha (TNFα) during the healing process of mouse skin wounds were examined using the enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay and immunostaining. The applicability of this examination for wound age estimation is discussed from the perspective of forensic pathology.
