Sordarin Diterpene Glycosides with an Unusual 1,3-Dioxolan-4-one Ring from the Zoanthid-Derived Fungus Curvularia hawaiiensis TA26-15.

Six new sordarin tetracyclic diterpene glycoside glycosides, moriniafungins B-G, and anew sordaricin tetrACYclicDiterPene, sordARicin B, together with two known analogues were isolated from the zoanthid-derived fungus Curvularia hawaiiensis TA26-15.

Inhibitory Effect of Moriniafungin Produced by Setosphaeria rostrata F3736 on the Development of Rhizopus Rot

Results suggest moriniafungin has potential as a control agent of postharvest diseases caused by Rhizopus spp.

Studies on Morinia: recognition of Morinia longiappendiculata sp. nov. as a new endophytic fungus, and a new circumscription of Morinia pestalozzioides.

Comparative sequence analysis of the ITS rDNA region and fragments of the translation elongation factor 1alpha, actin and chitin synthase 1 genes and the study of the HPLC profiles of the M. pestalozzioides isolates supported the recognition of the new species, Morinia longiappendiculata sp.

Time-Dependent Production of the Bioactive Peptides Endolides A and B and the Polyketide Mariline A from the Sponge-Derived Fungus Stachylidium bicolor 293K04

Results indicated a first production phase of secondary metabolite dominated by peptides, after 21–23 days, which suggests value in exploring extended cultivation times to identify novel bioactive fungal compounds.

Extending the Metabolite Diversity of the Endophyte Dimorphosporicola tragani

It is found that the addition of XAD-16 resin resulted in four-fold higher titers in the production of cerulenin when compared to the best production conditions described in literature for the original fungal producer strain, Cephalosporium caerulens KF-140 (=Sarocladium oryzae).

FR290581, a novel sordarin derivative: synthesis and antifungal activity.

SCH57404, an antifungal agent possessing the rare sodaricin skeleton and a tricyclic sugar moiety.

In the course of screening microbial fermentations for potential pharmaceutical activity, the extract from an unidentified fungus was found to inhibit Candida albicans and various media and fermentation conditions were examined in an effort to maximize production of the antifungal agent.

Sordarins: In Vitro Activities of New Antifungal Derivatives against Pathogenic Yeasts, Pneumocystis carinii, and Filamentous Fungi

It is concluded that some sordarin derivatives, such as GM 222712 and GM 237354, showed excellent in vitro activities against a wide range of pathogenic fungi, including Candida spp.

Species-specific inhibition of fungal protein synthesis by sordarin: identification of a sordarin-specificity region in eukaryotic elongation factor 2.

EEF2 has been cloned and characterized from several sordarin-sensitive and -insensitive fungal species and it is shown that three amino acid residues within eEF2 account for the selectivity of this class of compounds.

In vitro antifungal activities and in vivo efficacies of 1,3-beta-D-glucan synthesis inhibitors L-671,329, L-646,991, tetrahydroechinocandin B, and L-687,781, a papulacandin

Results from in vivo experiments comparing significant trend and progressiveness in response analyses indicated that L-671,329 and L-646,991 were equipotent but slightly less active than L-687-901, while L-787,781 was ineffective at 10 mg/kg.

In Vitro Pharmacodynamic Parameters of Sordarin Derivatives in Comparison with Those of Marketed Compounds against Pneumocystis carinii Isolated from Rats

In this study, the in vitro pharmacodynamic parameters of four sordarin derivatives have been evaluated by a new quantitative approach and compared with the commercially available drugs pentamidine, atovaquone, and trimethoprim-sulfamethoxazole and showed GM 237354 and GM 191519 to be approximately 35- and 100-fold more active in vitro than pentAMidine, the most active marketed compound.

Antifungal Activities and Cytotoxicity Studies of Six New Azasordarins

In vitro selectivity of azasordarins showed significant activity against emerging fungal pathogens, which affect immunocompromised patients, such as Rhizopus arrhizus, Blastoschizomyces capitatus, and Geotrichum clavatum.

Endophytic fungi from plants living on gypsum soils as a source of secondary metabolites with antimicrobial activity

Endophytic fungi were isolated from nine plant species growing on gypsum and saline soils in central Spain, showing large differences among isolates from the same species, with respect to their ability to produce metabolites with antimicrobial activity.

Isolation and characterisation of an antifungal antibiotic (GR135402) with protein synthesis inhibition.

A novel antifungal antibiotic GR135402 has been isolated from a fermentation broth of Graphium putredinis which inhibited protein synthesis in Candida albicans but not rabbit reticulocytes. The

Xylarin, an Antifungal Xylaria Metabolite with an Unusual Tricyclic Uronic Acid Moiety

Abstract An antifungal sordaricin derivative containing a tricyclic uronic acid moiety was isolated from the culture fluids of a wood-inhabiting Xylaria species. The isolation, structure

Mutations in Ribosomal Protein L10e Confer Resistance to the Fungal-specific Eukaryotic Elongation Factor 2 Inhibitor Sordarin*

This report provides the first description of ribosomal protein mutations affecting translocation affecting translocated sordarin resistance and suggests a functional linkage between L10e and eEF2.
