We study dijet production in proton-proton collisions with a veto on the emission of a third jet in the rapidity region in between the two leading ones. We resum the leading logarithms in the ratio of the transverse momentum of the leading jets and the veto scale and we match this result to leading-order QCD matrix elements. We find that, in order to obtain sensible results, we have to modify the resummation and take into account energy-momentum conservation effects. We compare our theoretical…
On jet mass distributions in Z+jet and dijet processes at the LHC
A bstractThe mass distribution of jets produced in hard processes at the LHC plays an important role in several jet substructure related studies involving both Standard Model and BSM physics,
Infrared QCD resummations at hadron colliders
In this thesis we study two different processes at hadron colliders: Z-boson production and dijet production with a jet veto. Our calculations focus on the resummation of logarithmically enhanced
Stress testing the vector-boson-fusion approximation in multijet final states
We consider electroweak Higgs plus three jets production at NLO QCD beyond strict VBF acceptance cuts. We investigate, for the first time, how accurate the VBF approximation is in these regions and
A study of jet mass distributions with grooming
A bstractWe perform a phenomenological study of the invariant mass distribution of hadronic jets produced in proton-proton collisions, in conjunction with a grooming algorithm. In particular, we
Jets and threshold summation in deductor
We explore jet physics in hadron collisions using the parton shower event generator Deductor. Of particular interest is the one jet inclusive cross section dsigma/dpT for jets of very high pT.
Non-global logarithms in jet and isolation cone cross sections
A bstractStarting from a factorization theorem in effective field theory, we derive a parton-shower equation for the resummation of non-global logarithms. We have implemented this shower and
Precision measurement of jets at the ATLAS Experiment
This thesis describes the measurements of jet activity in the rapidity region between a dijet system formed in proton-proton collisions at a centre-of-mass energy of 7 TeV. The data used were
Soft evolution of multi-jet final states
A bstractWe present a new framework for computing resummed and matched distributions in processes with many hard QCD jets. The intricate color structure of soft gluon emission at large angles renders
QCD resummation for hadronic final states
We review the basic concepts of all-order calculations in Quantum Chromodynamics (QCD) and their application to collider phenomenology. We start by discussing the factorization properties of QCD

Dijet rapidity gaps in photoproduction from perturbative QCD
By defining dijet rapidity gap events according to interjet energy flow, we treat the photoproduction cross section of two high transverse momentum jets with a large intermediate rapidity region as a
Jet vetoing at the LHC
We study the effect of a veto on additional jets in the rapidity region between a pair of high transverse momentum jets at the LHC. We aim to sum the most important logarithms in the ratio of the jet
Measurement of the inclusive jet cross section in pp collisions at √s = 7TeV
The inclusive jet cross section is measured in pp collisions with a center-of-mass energy of 7 TeV at the Large Hadron Collider using the CMS experiment. The data sample corresponds to an integrated
A parton shower for High Energy Jets
We present a method to match the multi-parton states generated by the High Energy Jets Monte Carlo with parton showers generated by the Ariadne program using the colour dipole model. The High Energy
Measurement of dijet azimuthal decorrelations in pp collisions at sqrt(s)=7  TeV.
A measurement of the normalized differential cross section based on the full data set acquired by the ATLAS detector during the 2010 sqrt(s)=7  TeV proton-proton run of the LHC is presented.
Multiple jets at the LHC with high energy jets
We present a flexible Monte Carlo implementation of the perturbative framework of High Energy Jets, describing multi-jet events at hadron colliders. The description includes a resummation which
Next-to-leading order calculation of three jet observables in hadron hadron collision
The production of three jets in hadron-hadron collisions is the first complex process which allows us to define a branch of variables in order to make more precise measurements of the strong coupling
When rapidity gaps in high-$p_T$ dijet events are identified by energy flow in the central region, they may be calculated from factorized cross sections in perturbative QCD, up to corrections that
Soft gluons in Higgs plus two jet production
We investigate the effects of an all order QCD resummation of soft gluon emissions for Higgs boson production in association with two hard jets. We consider both the gluon-gluon fusion and weak boson
