The soil and whole plants of Brachiaria enimi were collected beside a major road (Bombo road) and digested with a mixture of concentrated nitric acid, and perchloric acid. The analysis of the soil digests show that lead, cadmium, zinc and copper contents are high close to the road and decrease with distance from the road edge. Also the Pb, Cd, Zn and Cu concentrations in soil fall off rapidly with increasing distance from the road edge, in agreement with previous investigations. The major…
Short Communication DETERMINATION OF HEAVY METALS IN SOIL IN THE VICINITY OF A DUMPSITE IN KETAREN GWARI, MINNA
In recent years, pollution in large areas of land by heavy metals and chemicals has become a major concern. The discharge of these effluents would also change the physico – chemical characteristics
Status of Toxic Metal Pollution of Soil in and around Araromi Metal Scrap Dumpsite, Akure, Ondo State
Most problems of soil pollution are associated with large amount of heavy metals deposited on it through disposed waste. This study was carried out to assess heavy metals (Fe, Zn, Pb, Cu and Cd) in

Lead, Cadmium And Zinc Accumulation On Soil And Vegetation Along Some Selected Major Roads Of Eastern Cape
Surface soil and grass samples were collected in triplicates from seven locations perpendicular to three major roads in Eastern Cape. Total and available lead, cadmium and zinc were determined in the
Trace zinc and copper concentrations in roadside vegetation and surface soils: a measurement of local atmospheric pollution in Alice, South Africa
The concentration of zinc and copper in 180 grass and associated soil samples collected in triplicate samples were determined. The triplicate field data were averaged to yield mean soil and
Lead accumulation in surface soils and components of Balenites aegyptica specie in a Katsina urban area, Nigeria.
TLDR
A strong influence of vehicular traffic density on Pb emission into surrounding atmosphere and its subsequent precipitation on soil and components of B. aegyptica specie in the area indicates an urgent need for Pb pollution control in the areas to be effectively enforced.
Lead accumulation in surface soils and components of Balenites aegyptica specie in a Katsina urban area, Nigeria.
OBJECTIVE The main objective of this paper is to assess the impact of various vehicular traffic densities on lead (Pb) accumulations in some environmental components in Katsina, a semi-arid urban
Quantifying vehicular heavy metal deposits on roadside soil and vegetation along Akure-Ilesa express road, South-Western Nigeria
Vehicular emission is one of the major sources of heavy metal deposition on roadside vegetation and soil. This is influence by the degree of traffic congestions on the road. The heavy metals can
