The complete nucleotide sequence of a cryptic plasmid isolated from a Lactobacillus plantarum strain has been determined. The plasmid, designated pC30i1, has a molecular size of 2140 bp and a GC content of 37%. The sequence contains one major open reading frame (ORF R) of 951 bp, encoding a basic polypeptide of 317 amino acids, and a molecular weight of 36,956.
