Abstract The complete mitochondrial genome of the ascomycete fungus Phomopsis longicolla was sequenced using Illumina HiSeq platform. It consists of 53,439 bp with high (65.6%) A + T content and includes 14 conserved protein subunits of the mitochondrial oxidative phosphorylation system, two ribosomal RNAs and 25 tRNA genes. To our knowledge, this is the first complete mitochondrial genome of the Diaporthales member.
Fungal Mitogenomes: Relevant Features to Planning Plant Disease Management
The mechanisms that generate changes along mt-genomes are described, which play key roles at enlarging the ability of fungi to adapt to changing environments and will help to understand, at the molecular level, the strategies for fungal disease management. Expand
Characterization and comparative mitogenomic analysis of six newly sequenced mitochondrial genomes from ectomycorrhizal fungi (Russula) and phylogenetic analysis of the Agaricomycetes.
This study provides the first report of mitogenomes from the Russulaceae family and facilitates the investigation of population genetics and evolution of other ectomycorrhizal fungi. Expand
Comparative genomics of maize ear rot pathogens reveals expansion of carbohydrate-active enzymes and secondary metabolism backbone genes in Stenocarpella maydis.
The draft genome of S. maydis presented here will serve as a useful resource for molecular genetics, functional genomics, and analyses of population diversity in this organism. Expand

The analysis of the complete mitochondrial genome of Lecanicillium muscarium (synonym Verticillium lecanii) suggests a minimum common gene organization in mtDNAs of Sordariomycetes: phylogenetic implications.
Phylogenetic analysis of all fungal mtDNA essential protein-coding genes as one unit clearly demonstrated the superiority of small genome (mtDNA) over single gene comparisons. Expand
Molecular Detection of Diaporthe phaseolorum and Phomopsis longicolla from Soybean Seeds.
ABSTRACT Species-specific detection of Diaporthe phaseolorum and Phomopsis longicolla from soybean seeds was accomplished using polymerase chain reaction-restriction fragment length polymorphismExpand
Mitochondrial introns: a critical view.
This work set out to identify all mitochondrial group I and II introns in published sequences, and developed and applied a new search approach: RNAweasel, which results in a comprehensive picture of mitochondrialGroup I introns, including a modified (reduced) consensus RNA secondary structure and a concise phylogeny-based subclassification. The tRNAscan-SE, snoscan and snoGPS web servers for the detection of tRNAs and snoRNAs
Online implementations of tRNAscan-SE, snoscan and snoGPS are described that make these RNA detection tools accessible to a wider range of research biologists. Expand
