Chromolipoid pigments prepared in vitro were found to be a mixture of compounds of different degrees of polymerization and different histochemical characteristics. Some fractions give positive Feulgen nucleal reaction, stain with methyl-green and absorb ultraviolet light, thus closely mimicking DNA.
