Matrix isolation infrared (IR) studies have been carried out on the vaporisation of the alkali-metal azides MN3 (M = Na, K, Rb and Cs). The results show that under high vacuum conditions, molecular KN3, RbN3 and CsN3 are present as stable high-temperature vapour species, together with variable amounts of nitrogen gas and the corresponding metal atoms. The characterisation of these molecular azides is supported by ab initio molecular orbital calculations and density functional theory (DFT…

Alkali-metal azides interacting with metal-organic frameworks.

TLDR
It is found that, with increasing alkali-metal atom size, the latter decrease for cations interacting with the π-ring systems and increase for the azides interact with the MOF fragments, while the opposite behavior is explained by stabilization effects on the azide moieties.

Theoretical study about the 5-azido-1H-tetrazole and its ion salts

TLDR
It is found the salts of HCN7 are more stable than itself because the band gap of the salts is larger and the density of state shows the p states of them have played a very significant role in the reaction.

Can Cyclen Bind Alkali Metal Azides? A DFT Study as a Precursor to Synthesis.

TLDR
It is hoped that this computational study will be a precursor to the synthesis and experimental study of these new macrocyclic compounds; structural parameters and infrared spectra were computed, which will assist future experimental work.

The vibrational spectroscopy of the coordinated azide anion; a theoretical study.

TLDR
The vibrational behaviour of the azide anion in a variety of environments has been examined by DFT methods and it is suggested that a combination of infrared and Raman data for the antisymmetric stretch region might give limited structural insights.

Optically pumped magnetometers (OPMs) that use alkali metal vapor cells can measure weak magnetic fields generated by the human body. A multichannel detector head with alkali-metal vapor cells

Microfabricated alkali metal vapor cells filled with an on-chip dispensing component

This paper presents a microfabrication technique for vapor cells, filled with cesium (Cs), from an on-chip dispensing component. Wafer-level cell fabrication with a Cs dispenser has gained

Wafer scale fabrication of highly integrated rubidium vapor cells

This paper reports on wafer scale fabrication of MEMS rubidium (Rb) vapor cells used for spectroscopic measurements in miniaturized atomic clocks. The cell filling process is based on pipetting

Covalent Inorganic Azides

The chemistry of covalent inorganic azides originated with the synthesis of aqueous HN3 solutions by Tony Curtis in 1890. A little later, in 1900, it proved possible to prepare iodine azide, IN3, as

Recent Developments in the Chemistry of Covalent Azides

The experimental and theoretical chemistry of covalently bound azides is an area that has seen considerable renaissance over the past 10 years. This review is not exhaustive in scope but rather

Characterisation of chromium(VI) oxide tetrafluoride, CrOF4, and caesium pentafluoro-oxochromate(VI) Cs[CrOF5]

The title compounds have been characterised by elemental analyses, i.r. And u.v.–visible spectroscopy, and some of their reactions are described. Matrix isolation studies on CrOF4 show characteristic

Contrasting behavior in azide pyrolyses: an investigation of the thermal decompositions of methyl azidoformate, ethyl azidoformate and 2-azido-N, N-dimethylacetamide by ultraviolet photoelectron spectroscopy and matrix isolation infrared spectroscopy.

TLDR
Mechanisms are proposed for the formation and decomposition of all the products observed in these three systems, based on the experimental evidence and the results of supporting molecular orbital calculations.

Infrared Spectra of Alkali Metal Azide Crystals
