A retrospective is provided of the invention of two major bombsights during World War II: the well-known Norden bombsight and the less famous but superior Sperry bombsight. The author describes their invention and compares the two. He explains why the Norden became so famous during World War II that it was even featured in popular movies while the Sperry was comparatively little known in spite of its advantages.<<ETX>>

Controlling contamination: the origins of clean room technology
Cleanroom technology is central to high tech manufacturing. Its development stems from the convergence of needs in several fields of manufacturing, health care, and military requirements. Small‐sizedExpand
Longitudinal flight control with a variable span morphing wing
The present study focuses on the design of a longitudinal flight controller for an unmanned aircraft equipped with dissymmetric variable-span system (VSMW or Variable-Span Morphing Wing). It ́sExpand
Enabling Technologies II—Contamination Control
A clean substrate surface is an indispensible precondition for both semiconductor and MEMS/NEMS fabrication. It is accomplished by a suitable contamination control, which is one of the essentialExpand
