An antibiotic XK-41 complex consisting of five components (A1, A2, B1 B2, and C) produced by a new species named Micromonospora inositola MK-41 was isolated. The components, A„ A.,. B, and C, were found to be macrolide-type antibiotics similar to megalomicins, while one component XK-41-B2 was considered to be a new antibiotic probably belonging to megalomicin-group antibiotic. Erythronolide B was also found to be produced as a byproduct by this Micromonospora sp.

MACROLIDE ANTIBIOTICS M-4365 PRODUCED BY MICROMONOSPORA
TLDR
A series of basic 16-membered macrolide antibiotics, M-4365 A1, A2, A3, G1, G2 and G3, were isolated from the culture broth of strain MCRL 0940 and showed strong inhibitory activity against Grampositive and Gram-negative bacteria.
STUDIES ON JUVENIMICIN, A NEW ANTIBIOTIC. I
An actinomycete, strain No. T-1124, was found to produce new macrolide antibiotics, juvenimicins. Based on the results of taxonomic studies, the strain was considered to be a new variety of

Micromonospora: A Potential Source of Antibiotic
TLDR
This chapter has described two pretreatment methods for isolation of Micromonospora, along with specific isolation media, screening techniques for isolate of secondary metabolites, and a glimpse of the research on Microm onospora at NEIST, Jorhat is highlighted here.
Studies on juvenimicin, a new antibiotic. II. Isolation, chemical characterization and structures.
TLDR
A series of new macrolide antibiotics was isolated from the culture filtrate of Micromonospora chalcea var, izumensis and was found to be identical with rosamicin and the structures of four of the other components (JVM A2, A4, B1 and B3) have been elucidated.
Intrageneric relationships among Micromonospora species deduced from gyrB-based phylogeny and DNA relatedness.
TLDR
The gyrB-based classification of genus Micromonospora agrees with the results of the DNA-DNA hybridization studies, indicating that this classification method is useful for analysing the phylogenetic relationships of high G+C Gram-positive bacteria at the level of the genomic species.
Bioprospecting of Indigenous Bioresources of North-East India
TLDR
This chapter provides an exploration of the current and future scope of bioprospecting obtained from biologically diverse natural resources and describes certain possibilities and opportunities within Northeastern India while describing the global trends and the industries involved in biop rospecting.
Genome-based classification of micromonosporae with a focus on their biotechnological and ecological potential
TLDR
Draft genomes of 40 Micromonospora type strains and two non-type strains are made available through the Genomic Encyclopedia of Bacteria and Archaea project and used to generate a phylogenomic tree which showed they could be assigned to well supported phyletic lines that were not evident in corresponding trees based on single and concatenated sequences of conserved genes.

Antibiotic 6640, a new Micromonospora-produced aminoglycoside antibiotic.
TLDR
Antibiotic 6640 is a new aminoglycoside antibiotic isolated from fermentation broths of a new species of the genus Microm onospora, named Micromonospora inyoensis, which appears to be quite similar to that of gentamicin in vitro and in vivo.

Megalomicin, a new macrolide antibiotic complex produced by Micromonospora.
TLDR
Of the four known components, megalomicin A has been studied most extensively and has activity equal to or slightly less than that of erythromycin both in vitro and in vivo, and in dogs dosed orally, it is better tolerated and gives higher peak serum levels with a much greater duration than erythyromycin.
Biological activity of megalomicin, a new Micromonospora-produced macrolide antibiotic complex.
TLDR
In vitro studies with megalomicin A base demonstrated enhanced activity with increased pH, decreased activity with increasing serum content in the medium and serum binding in the range of 20-30% and in vivo studies in mice demonstrate that megalomics A, B, C1, and C2 as well as the complex are active in conventional protection tests and have low acute LD50's.
