The first determination of the age of the Galactic thin disk from Th/Eu nucleocosmochronology was accomplished by us in Papers I and II. The present work aimed at reducing the age uncertainty by expanding the stellar sample with the inclusion of seven new objects – an increase by 37%. A set of [Th/Eu] abundance ratios was determined from spectral synthesis and merged with the results from Paper I. Abundances for the new, extended sample were analyzed with the aid of a Galactic disk chemical… Expand

The age of the Galactic thin disk from Th/Eu nucleocosmochronology. I. Determination of [Th/Eu] abundance ratios
The purpose of this work is to resume investigation of Galactic thin disk dating using nucleocosmochronology with Th/Eu stellar abundance ratios, a theme absent from the literature since 1990. AExpand
Basic physical parameters of a selected sample of evolved stars
We present the detailed spectroscopic analysis of 72 evolved stars, which were previously studied for accurate radial velocity variations. Using one Hyades giant and another well studied star as theExpand
Dynamical evidence of the age-metallicity relation in the Milky Way disk
Aims. We studied the relationship between the average stellar abundance of several elements and the orbital evolution of stars in the neighbourhood of the Sun. Methods. We used both observationalExpand
Thorium in solar twins: implications for habitability in rocky planets
We have investigated the thorium (Th) abundance in a sample of 53 thin disc solar twins covering a wide range of ages. These data provide constrains on the mantle energy budget of terrestrial planetsExpand
Turn-off of deuterium astration in the recent star formation of the Galaxy disc
Chemical features of the local stellar disc have firmly established that long-term, continuous star formation has been accompanied by a steady rate of accretion of low-metallicity gas from the halo.Expand
The age of the Galaxy's thick disk
Abstract We discuss the age of the stellar disks in the solar neighborhood. After reviewing the various methods for age dating, we discuss current estimates of the ages of both the thin- and theExpand
The Besançon Galaxy model renewed - I. Constraints on the local star formation history from Tycho data
Context. The understanding of Galaxy evolution can be facilitated by the use of population synthesis models, which allows us to test hypotheses on the star formation history, star evolution, a ndExpand
Do Most Planetary Nebulae Derive from Binaries? I. Population Synthesis Model of the Galactic Planetary Nebula Population Produced by Single Stars and Binaries
We present a population synthesis calculation to derive the total number of planetary nebulae (PNs) in the Galaxy that descend from single stars and stars in binary systems. Using the most recentExpand
Chemical composition of high proper-motion stars based on short-wavelength optical spectra
The results of spectroscopic observations made with the NES echelle spectrograph of the 6-m BTA telescope of the Special Astrophysical Observatory of the Russian Academy of Sciences in the wavelengthExpand
On the formation history of Galactic double neutron stars
Double neutron stars (DNSs) have been observed as Galactic radio pulsars, and the recent discovery of gravitational waves from the DNS merger GW170817 adds to the known DNS population. We performExpand

Chemical evolution of primary elements in the Galactic disc: an analytical model
We model the evolution of abundances of oxygen, iron, and r-process elements in the Galactic disk using the instantaneous and delayed production approximations which enable the problem to be handledExpand
A lower limit of 9.5 Gyr on the age of the Galactic disk from the oldest white dwarf stars
WHITE dwarf stars represent the final evolutionary state for most main-sequence stars. They cool slowly enough that even the oldest white dwarfs are still observable in sufficiently deep surveys andExpand
Measurement of stellar age from uranium decay
TLDR
The observation of this cosmochronometer gives the most direct age determination of the Galaxy, and with improved theoretical and laboratory data, it will provide a highly precise lower limit to the age of the Universe. Expand
A survey for cool white dwarfs and the age of the Galactic disc
We describe a new multi-colour proper motion survey for cool white dwarfs (CWDs). The observational database consists of ~300 digitally scanned Schmidt plates in ESO/SERC field 287. The entire surveyExpand
Statistical cataloging of archival data for luminosity class IV-V stars - II. The epoch 2001 [Fe/H] catalog
This paper describes the derivation of an updated statistical catalog of metallicities. The stars for which those metallicities apply are of spectral types F, G, and K, and are on or near the mainExpand
Catalogue of [Fe/H] determinations for FGK stars: 2001 edition
The catalogue presented here is a compilation of published atmospheric parameters ($T_\mathrm{eff}$, $\log g$, [Fe/H]) obtained from high resolution, high signal-to-noise spectroscopic observations.Expand
The Cool White Dwarf Luminosity Function and the Age of the Galactic Disk

Distances and ages of NGC 6397, NGC 6752 and 47 Tuc
New improved distances and absolute ages for the Galactic globular clusters NGC 6397, NGC 6752, and 47 Tuc are obtained using the Main Sequence Fitting Method. We derived accurate estimates ofExpand
