SummaryThe afferent nerve impulse traffic from 16 atrial A-type fibers (single units of the cervical vagus nerve) was studied in chloralosed spontaneously breathing cats. Analysis is based on the relationship between the number of impulses per burst, the average as well as the instantaneous frequency on the one hand, and the pressure level at the on-set of atrial contraction, the amplitude, and the slope of the atrial pressure curve during atrial contraction on the other.
