The boundary between two segments of Z-DNA that differ in the phase of their syn-anti alternation about the glycosidic bond is termed a Z-Z junction. Using chemical probes and two-dimensional gel electrophoresis, we examined a Z-Z junction consisting of the sequence d[(CG)8C(CG)8] inserted into a plasmid and used energy minimization techniques to devise a three-dimensional model that is consistent with the available data.
