We present the first release of the X-shooter Spectral Library (XSL). This release contains 237 stars. The spectra in this release span a wavelength range of 3000-10 200 A and have been observed at a resolving power of R ≡ λ/ Δλ ~ 10 000. The spectra were obtained at ESO's 8-m Very Large Telescope (VLT). The sample contains O-M, long-period variable, C and S stars. The spectra are flux-calibrated and telluric-corrected. We describe a new technique for the telluric correction. The wavelength… Expand
The X-shooter Spectral Library (XSL): Data release 2
We present the second data release (DR2) of the X-shooter Spectral Library (XSL), which contains all the spectra obtained over the six semesters of that program. This release supersedes our firstExpand
Carbon stars in the X-shooter Spectral Library - II. Comparison with models
In a previous paper, we assembled a collection of medium-resolution spectra of 35 carbon stars, covering optical and near-infrared wavelengths from 400 to 2400 nm. The sample includes stars from theExpand
Stellar atmospheric parameters for 754 spectra from the X-shooter Spectral Library
Context. The X-shooter Spectral Library (XSL) is an empirical stellar library at medium spectral resolution covering the wavelength range from 3000 Å to 24 800 Å. This library aims to provide aExpand
A comparison between X-shooter spectra and PHOENIX models across the HR-diagram
The path towards robust near-infrared extensions of stellar population models involves the confrontation between empirical and synthetic stellar spectral libraries across the wavelength ranges ofExpand
LEMONY - a library of empirical medium-resolution spectra by observations with the NAOC Xinglong 2.16-m and YNAO Gaomeigu 2.4-m telescopes
In this study, we expand the coverage and improve the homogeneity of the distribution of MILES template stars in the parameter space, as well as extend the wavelength coverage of the template spectraExpand
The X-Shooter Lens Survey - II. Sample presentation and spatially-resolved kinematics
We present the X-Shooter Lens Survey (XLENS) data. The main goal of XLENS is to disentangle the stellar and dark matter content of massive early-type galaxies (ETGs), through combined strongExpand
SDSS-IV MaStar: A Large and Comprehensive Empirical Stellar Spectral Library—First Release
We present the first release of the MaNGA Stellar Library (MaStar), which is a large, well-calibrated, high-quality empirical library covering the wavelength range of 3,622-10,354A at a resolvingExpand
Hot star extension to the Hubble Space Telescope stellar spectral library
Libraries of stellar spectra find many uses in astrophysics, from photometric calibration to stellar population synthesis. We present low resolution spectra of 40 stars from 0.2 micrometersExpand
An X-shooter composite of bright 1 < z < 2 quasars from UV to infrared
Quasi-stellar object (QSO) spectral templates are important both to QSO physics and for investigations that use QSOs as probes of intervening gas and dust. However, combinations of various QSOExpand
The Panchromatic High-Resolution Spectroscopic Survey of Local Group Star Clusters - I. General Data Reduction Procedures for the VLT/X-shooter UVB and VIS arm
Our dataset contains spectroscopic observations of 29 globular clusters in the Magellanic Clouds and the Milky Way performed with VLT/X-shooter. Here we present detailed data reduction procedures forExpand

We present a 0.8-5 μm spectral library of 210 cool stars observed at a resolving power of R ≡ λ/Δλ ~ 2000 with the medium-resolution infrared spectrograph, SpeX, at the 3.0 m NASA Infrared TelescopeExpand
A library of high resolution synthetic stellar spectra from 300 nm to 1.8 μm with solar and α-enhanced composition
Libraries of stellar spectra are fundamental tools for the study of stellar populations, and both empirical and synthetic libraries have been used for this purpose. In this paper, a new library ofExpand
The Indo-US Library of Coudé Feed Stellar Spectra
We have obtained spectra for 1273 stars using the 0.9 m coude feed telescope at Kitt Peak National Observatory. This telescope feeds the coude spectrograph of the 2.1 m telescope. The spectra haveExpand
X-shooter, the new wide band intermediate resolution spectrograph at the ESO Very Large Telescope
X-shooter is the first 2nd generation instrument of the ESO Very Large Telescope(VLT). It is a very efficient, single-target, intermediate-resolution spectrograph that was installed at the CassegrainExpand
A Stellar Spectral Flux Library: 1150 - 25000 A (Pickles 1998)
A stellar spectral flux library of wide spectral coverage and an example of its application are presented. The new library consists of 131 flux-calibrated spectra, encompassing all normal spectralExpand
A database of high and medium-resolution stellar spectra ?;??
We present a database of 908 spectra of 709 stars obtained with the ELODIE spectrograph at the Observatoire de Haute-Provence. 52 orders of the echelle spectra have been carefully tted together toExpand
Empirical calibration of the near-infrared Ca ii triplet — I. The stellar library and index definition
