The objective of this study was to further characterize the antihypertensive properties of medullipin and a second hormone designated angiolysin physiologically. Angiolysin and medullipin were tested in coronary and aortic rings from cows, sheep, pigs, mice and rats. In vivo animal experiments were performed using spontaneously hypertensive rats. Medullipin was successfully separated from another antihypertensive agent at the polar end of the polarity continuum. It is an extremely potent… Expand

Hormones have an influence on many tissues and organs, including the cardio-vascular system (CVS). Depending on their activity on CVS, they can be divided into 4 groups: having hypertensive orExpand

The Glodnys state that first John Loesch and then the authors' father, Harry Goldblatt, published papers with the same central proposition: Renal ischemia causes persistent hypertension, and that because of the primacy of his observations, Loech should be recognized as the discoverer of renovascular hypertension. The factors 'low GFR' and RNM are risk factors for greater atherosclerotic plaque burden and patients with RNM should undergo regular control examinations to monitor arterial blood pressure and treat hypertension if it occurs. Expand

Medullopressin: A New Pressor Activity from the Renal Medulla
TLDR
A long-lasting contractile response in porcine and bovine coronary artery rings was observed and this activity could not be attributed to any known vasoactive substance, it was considered to arise from a novel underlying active substance in the kidney medulla, which was named medullopressin. Expand
Derivation of antihypertensive neutral renomedullary lipid from renal venous effluent.
TLDR
The ANRL was derived from the renal venous effluent as the kidney exerted its nonexcretory antihypertensive function by virtue of improvement in the extraction of ANRL from fresh renal medulla and the fact that purified ANRL caused an acute vasodepressor effect (acted as a vasodilator). Expand
Cardiovascular Effects of Antihypertensive Polar and Neutral Renomedullary Lipids
TLDR
It is concluded that ANRL seems to be the antihypertensive hormone of the RIC, which appears to convert to APRL, under certain in vitro circumstances, suggesting that the structure of the two molecules is related. Expand
Antihypertensive Polar Renomedullary Lipid, A Semisynthetic Vasodilator
TLDR
Hemodynamic studies indicate that both the acute and prolonged effect of APRL causes vasodilatation with minimal or no tachycardia, and preliminary studies fail to reveal acute toxiclty. Expand
