The paper investigates the possibility to enhance the TerraSAR-X (TSX) azimuth resolution by means of staring spotlight imaging in combination with an extended azimuth pattern steering. The current TSX spotlight modes are briefly reviewed, and the azimuth steering limitations are discussed.
