This study was conducted from 1997 to 2000 in Xinglongshan National Nature Reserve, Gansu Province. The birth dates of wild and captive Alpine musk deer were examined to determine fawning patterns, and potential influencing factors discussed. In the wild, parturition shows strong seasonality, and occur in three months from May to July.Most of the births (75%) occurs within 27 days period.In captivity,parturition shows constancy between years and seasonality, although with later initiation and a… CONTINUE READING
