We investigate the structure of center vortices in maximal center gauge of SU(2) lattice gauge theory at zero and finite temperature. In center projection the vortices (called P-vortices) form connected two dimensional surfaces on the dual four-dimensional lattice. At zero temperature we find, in agreement with the area law behaviour of Wilson loops, that most of the P-vortex plaquettes are parts of a single huge vortex. Small P-vortices, and short-range fluctuations of the large vortex surface…
Center Vortices and the Gribov Horizon
We show how the infinite color-Coulomb energy of color-charged states is related to enhanced density of near-zero modes of the Faddeev-Popov operator, and calculate this density numerically for both
Center vortices and chiral symmetry breaking in S U ( 2 ) lattice gauge theory
We investigate the chiral properties of near-zero modes for thick classical center vortices in $SU(2)$ lattice gauge theory as examples of the phenomena which may arise in a vortex vacuum. In
Centre Vortices in the Presence of Dynamical Fermions
For the time, vortices are identified on SU(3) lattice ensembles that include dynamical fermions. Using a variational method, the static quark potential is calculated on untouched, vortex-removed, and
How center vortices break chiral symmetry
We investigate the chiral properties of near-zero modes for thick classical center vortices in SU(2) lattice gauge theory as examples of the phenomena which may arise in a vortex vacuum. In
Colorful plane vortices and chiral symmetry breaking in SU(2) lattice gauge theory
A bstractWe investigate plane vortices with color structure. The topological charge and gauge action of such colorful plane vortices are studied in the continuum and on the lattice. These

Recent Developments in Gauge Theories
Almost all theories of fundamental interactions are nowadays based on the gauge concept. Starting with the historical example of quantum electrodynamics, we have been led to the successful unified

Dynamics of First Order Phase Transitions
Two types of first order phase transitions seem to exist in naturel: If one approaches the “coexistence” curve where the two phases can coexist in thermal equilibrium (Fig. 1), a “susceptibility”
