We discuss HST Faint Object Spectrograph (FOS) ultraviolet spectroscopy and Near-Infrared Camera and Multiobject Spectrometer (NICMOS) photometry of four young super–star clusters in the central region of the irregular starburst galaxy NGC 1569. The new observations, coupled with previous HST WFPC2 photometry and ground-based optical spectroscopy, allow us to isolate and age-date the hot and cool stellar components of these massive clusters. We analyze the two components, A1 and A2, of the…

Characterizing the Stellar Population in NGC 1705-1
We observed the brightest super-star cluster NGC 1705-1 in the nearby dwarf galaxy NGC 1705 with the Space Telescope Imaging Spectrograph in the echelle mode between 1200 and 3100 ?. The data allow a
Star Cluster Formation and Evolution in the Dwarf Starburst Galaxy NGC 1569
We analyse multi-wavelength Hubble Space Telescope (HST) observations of a large number of star clusters in the nearby (post-) starburst dwarf galaxy NGC 1569. Their spectral energy distributions
Studying the galactic outflow in NGC 1569
We present deep WIYN H alpha imaging of the dwarf irregular starburst galaxy NGC 1569, together with WIYN SparsePak spatially resolved optical spectroscopy of the galactic outflow. This leads on from
Resolved photometry of extragalactic young massive star clusters
Aims. We present colour–magnitude diagrams (CMDs) of young massive star clusters in several galaxies located well beyond the Local Group. The richness of these clusters allows us to obtain large
YOUNG STELLAR POPULATIONS AND STAR CLUSTERS IN NGC 1705
We present Hubble Space Telescope (HST) photometry of the late-type dwarf galaxy NGC 1705 observed with the Wide-Field Planetary Camera 2 (WFPC2) in the F380W and F439W bands and with the Advanced
HST/ACS PHOTOMETRY OF OLD STARS IN NGC 1569: THE STAR FORMATION HISTORY OF A NEARBY STARBURST*
We used Hubble Space Telescope/Advanced Camera for Surveys to obtain deep V- and I-band images of NGC 1569, one of the closest and strongest starburst galaxies in the universe. These data allowed us
Gemini GMOS/IFU spectroscopy of NGC 1569 – I. Mapping the properties of a young star cluster and its environment
We present Gemini-North GMOS/IFU observations of a young star cluster and its environment near the centre of the dwarf irregular starburst galaxy NGC 1569. This forms part of a larger and ongoing
The Red Stellar Population in NGC 1569
We present HST NICMOS photometry of the resolved stellar population in the dwarf irregular galaxy NGC 1569. The color-magnitude diagram (CMD) in the F110W and F160W photometric bands contains ~2400
A New Hubble Space Telescope Distance to NGC 1569: Starburst Properties and IC 342 Group Membership*
We present deep HST ACS/WFC photometry of the dwarf irregular galaxy NGC 1569, one of the closest and strongest nearby starburst galaxies. These data allow us, for the first time, to unequivocally
GROUND-BASED NEAR-INFRARED CENSUS FOR YOUNG STAR CLUSTERS IN THE DWARF STARBURST GALAXY NGC 1569
JHK near-infrared photometry of starclusters in the dwarf irregular/dwarf starburst galaxy NGC 1569 are presented. After adopting several criteria to excludeother sources (foreground stars,

The Structure of the Super-Star Clusters in NGC 1569 from Hubble Space Telescope WFPC2 Images*
We present high-resolution observations of the super-star clusters in the nearby irregular galaxy NGC 1569, obtained with the WFPC2 on board the Hubble Space Telescope. Our analysis shows that the
Are the Super-Star Clusters of NGC 1569 in a Poststarburst Phase?
We present spectroscopic observations in the near-ultraviolet, optical, and near-infrared of the super- star clusters (hereafter SSC A and SSC B) in NGC 1569. Previous studies have suggested that
High-Dispersion Spectroscopy of a Luminous, Young Star Cluster in NGC 1705: Further Evidence for Present-Day Formation of Globular Clusters
We present evidence that some of the compact, luminous, young star clusters discovered recently through images taken with the Hubble Space Telescope (HST) have masses comparable to those of old
Hubble Space Telescope imaging of super-star clusters in NGC 1569 and NGC 1705
We examine the structural properties of three super-star clusters in the nearby, H I-rich galaxies NGC 1569 and NGC 1705. The clusters, which have total absolute V magnitudes between -13.3 and -14.1,
Starbursts and Star Clusters in the Ultraviolet
Hubble Space Telescope ultraviolet (UV) images of nine starburst galaxies reveal them to be highly irregular, even after excluding compact sources (clusters and resolved stars). Most (7/9) are found
The Starburst-Interstellar Medium Interaction in NGC 1569. I. Location and Nature of He II Sources Using HUBBLE SPACE TELESCOPE WFPC2 Imagery
We present the detection of He II sources in the Im galaxy NGC 1569 from Hubble Space Telescope WFPC2 imagery. Of the 15 detections, seven were Wolf-Rayet stars, five were stellar clusters with
Photometric studies of composite stellar systems. V - Infrared photometry of star clusters in the Magellanic clouds
The results of an infrared photometric study of the integrated light of 84 clusters in the Large and Small Magellanic Clouds (LMC and SMC) are presented. These clusters span nearly the complete range
