This article examines the impact of the AIDS epidemic on different sectors in subSaharan Africa health, welfare, education and training, employment and agriculture. It notes that AIDS will have a complex, multi-dimensional impact on these various sectors and, in addition to the human tragedy involved, will seriously affect socioeconomic development in the region.
