The Role of Ca– mg ATPase Activity in the Sub-cellular Fractions in calcium sequestration and the effect of Quinine Sulphate on the Mechanical Activity of the Golden Hamster Vas Deferens Smooth Muscle

Abstract

The effect of Ca and Mg on total ATPase activity of vas deferens microsomal and mitochondria fractions was investigated. The results suggest the existence of Ca-Mg activated ATPase in this smooth muscle. However in the presence of moderate concentrations of Mg (2-4Mm), the absence of calcium did not affect total ATPase activity. Microsomes and mitochondria… (More)
