The Reactor Antineutrino Anomaly

  title={The Reactor Antineutrino Anomaly},
  author={T. Lasserre},
Early 2011 new reactor antineutrino spectra have been provided for 235U, 239Pu, 241Pu, and 238U, increasing the mean flux by about 3 percent. The authors reevaluated the ratio of observed event rate to predicted rate of 19 published experiments at reactor-detector distances below 100 m, found to be 0.943 ± 0.023. The deviation from unity, significant at 98.6% C.L., is now being refered as 'the reactor antineutrino anomaly'. The compatibility of our results with the existence of a fourth non… Expand
Impact of eV-mass sterile neutrinos on neutrino-driven supernova outflows
Motivated by recent hints for sterile neutrinos from the reactor anomaly, we study active-sterile conversions in a three-flavor scenario (2 active + 1 sterile families) for three differentExpand
Calibration of the Double Chooz detector and cosmic background studies
Double Chooz is a short-baseline experiment, located at the Chooz power plant, designed to observe the neutrino oscillation signal controlled by the θ13 mixing angle. Part of my scientific research,Expand
The measurement of the neutrino mixing angle theta(13) with reactor neutrino experiments
Abstract Currently running reactor neutrino experiments with a baseline of about 1 km have provided the first clean measurements of the third neutrino mixing angle θ 13 . This review summarizes theirExpand
Using strong intense lasers to probe sterile neutrinos
A linearly polarized laser beam acquires its circular polarization by interacting with a neutrino beam for the reason that the gauge-couplings of left-handed neutrinos are parity-violated. Based onExpand
Extended Grimus–Stockinger theorem and inverse-square law violation in quantum field theory
We study corrections to the Grimus–Stockinger theorem dealing with the large-distance asymptotic behavior of the external wave-packet modified neutrino propagator within the framework of aExpand

Final results of the 51Cr neutrino source experiments in GALLEX
Abstract The radiochemical GALLEX experiment, which has been measuring the solar neutrino flux since May 1991, has performed an investigation with two intense 51 Crneutrino sources (> 60 PBq) thatExpand
Neutrino-oscillation experiments at the Gösgen nuclear power reactor.
A search for neutrino oscillations at the 2800-MW nuclear power reactor in Gosgen (Switzerland), providing 5×10^20 electron antineutrinos per second, shows that the data are consistent with the absence of neutrinos oscillations, and rule out large regions of parameters. Expand
Reactor Antineutrino Anomaly
Recently, new reactor antineutrino spectra have been provided for {sup 235}U, {sup 239}Pu, {sup 241}Pu, and {sup 238}U, increasing the mean flux by about 3%. To a good approximation, thisExpand
Improved Predictions of Reactor Antineutrino Spectra
Precise predictions of the antineutrino spectra emitted by nuclear reactors is a key ingredient in measurements of reactor neutrino oscillations as well as in recent applications to the surveillanceExpand
Reactor antineutrino spectra and their application to antineutrino-induced reactions. II
The antineutrino and electron spectra associated with various nuclear fuels are calculated. While there are substantial differences between the spectra of different uranium and plutonium isotopes,Expand
Study of reactor antineutrino interaction with proton at Bugey nuclear power plant
Abstract We report on a high precision measurement at 15m from a 2800 MWth reactor in which 300 000 events of electron antineutrino interactions with proton have been detected using an integralExpand
Analysis of the antineutrino capture on protons
Corrections to the zeroth-approximation cross-section formula for antineutrino capture on protons at nuclear reactors are evaluated. They include recoil corrections 1/M of three kinds. The trueExpand
