Abstract : In Japan, chemical spraying by manned helicopter was started in 1958, nowadays it has spread throughout Japan. But residents who live near paddy rice field have began to complain of using 'manned helicopter', because the agricultural chemical drifts to their houses. Looking at the Japanese farming industry, because of the aging of the work force and lack of a younger generation of successors, it has been more and more difficult for farm workers to engage in heavy labor for pest…

Development of a Low-Volume Sprayer for an Unmanned Helicopter
An UAV (Unmanned Aerial Vehicle) can target much smaller areas with lower flight altitudes than conventional, piloted airplanes. In agriculture, UAVs have been mainly developed and used for chemical
A vision-based autonomous aerial spray system for precision agriculture
The whole system design is presented firstly, the core algorithm of task-scheduling and vision for identification and localization are given, and the results of experiments and competition are introduced and analyzed in detail to show the efficiency and precision of the whole system.
Development and prospect of unmanned aerial vehicle technologies for agricultural production management
Unmanned aerial vehicles have been developed and applied to support agricultural production management. Compared with piloted aircraft, an Unmanned Aerial Vehicle (UAV) can focus on small crop fields
Safety and Certification Considerations for Expanding the Use of UAS in Precision Agriculture
The agricultural community is actively engaged in adopting new technologies such as unmanned aircraft systems (UAS) to help assess the condition of crops and develop appropriate treatment plans. In
Integrating Unmanned Aerial Systems Into the Crop Production System Through On-Farm Research
Investigations found that the UAS product enabled the growers to optimize their field management practices, while overcoming a labor shortage, and create a more sustainable operation.
The Japanese Impact on Global Drone Policy and Law: Why a Laggard United States and Other Nations Should Look to Japan in the Context of Drone Usage
Abstract:The global Unmanned Aircraft System, or unmanned aerial systems (UAS) revolution is poised to have an impact across a broad range of industries from agriculture to filmmaking. The United
Autonomous flight control of RC helicopter with wind disturbance
This paper considers autonomous flight of a small RC helicopter with wind disturbance. We first define a ratio of wind force to maximum thrust. This ratio plays an important role to characterize
Recent Trends and Issues of Volcanic Disaster Response with Mobile Robots
Conventional methods for volcanic teleoperated observation and mudslide-control construction based on teleoperation-type robotic technology are presented and technical problems in current unmanned construction system to be solved in the near future are discussed.
Search and Rescue Rotary‐Wing UAV and Its Application to the Lushan Ms 7.0 Earthquake
This system was significantly improved with respect to its searching/planning strategy and vision‐based evaluation in different environments based on the lessons learned from actual missions after the earthquake and has proved to be applicable and time saving.
