The Protective Effect of Soybean, Sesame, Lentils, Pumpkin Seeds and Molasses on Iron Deficiency Anemia in Rats

title={The Protective Effect of Soybean, Sesame, Lentils, Pumpkin Seeds and Molasses on Iron Deficiency Anemia in Rats},
  author={Sahar S. A. Soltan},
The present study was carried out to investigate the protective effect of cooked soybean, cooked lentils, sesame seed, pumpkin seed, molasses and mixture of them (soybean + lentils + sesame seed + Pumpkin seed powder + molasses) with ascorbic acid on iron deficiency anemia. Fifty four Sprague Dawely rats were divided into nine groups (6 rats each). The first group of rats fed on basal diet (control group). The second group of rats fed on iron free diet (anemic group). The third group fed on…

Quality Evaluation of Cookies Prepared from Garden Cress Seeds and Golden berry Fruits and Its Effect on Iron Deficiency Anemia in Rats
This research was designed to investigate the effect of cookies produced from whole garden cress seeds (WGCS) and golden berry fruits (GBF) on chemical, sensory and antioxidant properties. Effect of
Treatment of Anaemia and Malnutrition by Shamy Bread Fortified with Spirulina, Quinoa and Chickpea flour
The mixture sample recorded the highest value of protein content with the lowest value total carbohydrate for the produced beard, which reflected on the produced Shamy bread as final product.
Hematological and renoprotective effects of folic acid and lentil extract in diclofenac sodium exposed rats.
LE and FA could play a potent role for the prevention the adverse hematological, the kidney tissue oxidative stress and the renal dysfunction caused by DS via their anti-oxidative and bioactive phytochemicals.
The Effect of Methanolic Leaf Extract of Adansoniadigitata on the Histology of Wistar Rats Testes
This study investigated the effect of methanolic leaf extract of Adansonia digitata on the histology of the testes of adult albino wistar rats. A total of forty rats were divided into four groups (A,
Pumpkin seed oil alleviates oxidative stress and liver damage induced by sodium nitrate in adult rats: biochemical and histological approach
The ability of PSO to attenuate NaNO3-induced oxidative damage is revealed, and most parameters cited above to near-normal values are restored.
Polyphenol-Rich Lentils and Their Health Promoting Effects
The present review focuses on the in vitro, in-vivo and clinical studies, to provide more information on the nutritional compositions, bioactive compounds including polyphenols and health-promoting effects of lentils.
The Effect of Pumpkin Seeds Biscuits and Moringa Extract Supplementation on Hemoglobin, Ferritin, C-reactive protein, and Birth Outcome for Pregnant Women: A Systematic Review
The provision of pumpkin seed biscuits and Moringa leaf extract to pregnant women can affect Hb, ferritin, and CRP levels and can affect maternal nutritional status and affect pregnancy outcomes.
Sugarcane Molasses – A Potential Dietary Supplement in the Management of Iron Deficiency Anemia
Molasses contains iron and its absorption enhancers, such as sulfur, fructose, and copper, which make it a potential dietary supplement for IDA, and more research, product development, and evidence of safety and efficacy in IDA management can provide a tasty and cost-effective dietary supplement, particularly for children.
Fruit and Vegetable Consumption and Their Association With the Indicators of Iron and Inflammation Status Among Adolescent Girls
Regular consumption of vitamin C–rich fruits and green leafy vegetable intake are imperative for improvement of iron status among adolescent girls.

Purified ferritin and soybean meal can be sources of iron for treating iron deficiency in rats.
The combined data suggest that manipulating ferritin expression and other soluble components of seed iron in soybeans and possibly other seeds, using Mendelian and biotechnological approaches, could contribute to a sustainable solution to global problems of iron deficiency.
Iron deficiency and marginal vitamin A deficiency affect growth, hematological indices and the regulation of iron metabolism genes in rats.
Although marginal VA deficiency did not exacerbate indices of poor iron status during iron deficiency, iron deficiency was associated with lower plasma retinol and elevated liver VA concentrations, consistent with an impaired mobilization of liver Retinol during Iron deficiency as well as multiple alterations in iron metabolism.
Plasma thyroid hormone kinetics are altered in iron-deficient rats.
Plasma thyroid hormone kinetics in iron deficiency anemia are corrected by simply providing more thyroxine, which suggests a central regulatory defect as the primary lesion and not peripheral alterations.
Iron supplementation affects growth and morbidity of breast-fed infants: results of a randomized trial in Sweden and Honduras.
It is concluded that routine iron supplementation of breast-fed infants may benefit those with low Hb but may present risks for those with normal Hb.
