Background: TORCH infections are caused by Toxoplasma gondii and other microorganisms such as Treponema pallidum, the Rubella virus (RV), Cytomegalovirus (CMV) and the Herpes Simplex Virus (HSV) Type I and II during the first trimester of pregnancy.
