A study of the population size of Bandicota bengalensis rats in three markets in Penang was conducted from April 2004 through May 2005. Taman Tun Sardon Market (TTS), Batu Lanchang Market (BTLG) and Bayan Lepas Market (BYNLP) were surveyed. Six sampling sessions were conducted in each market for four consecutive nights per session. The total captures of B. bengalensis in TTS, BTLG and BYNLP were 92%, 73% and 89% respectively. The total population of B. bengalensis in TTS was estimated as 265.4…

Population characteristics of Suncus murinus in rural commensal habitats of Pothwar, Pakistan
The present study was aimed to determine the population characteristics of the House shrew, Suncus murinus, in rural commensal habitats of Pothwar, Pakistan. The trapping campaign was conducted in
Population structure and trap success of bandicota indica (bechstein, 1800) in the four allocated study sites Magway region in Myanmar

Body Weight, Sex Ratio and Seasonal Reproductive Changes in the Indian Mole Rat, Bandicota bengalensis in the Punjab
TLDR
The body, ovary and uterus were lighter during winter, and then gained weight, with peaks during April and August-September, and males were generally heavier than females.
The susceptibility of Tatera indica, Nesokia indica and Bandicota bengalensis to three anticoagulant rodenticides
TLDR
Three South-Asian rodent past species were tested for susceptibility to anticoagulant rodenticides: Tatera, Nesokia and Bandicota were extremely variable: though the majority were highly susceptible, the slopes of the dose-mortality curves were close to zero.
Ecology of Rodents in Indian Cove (Mojave Desert), Joshua Tree National Monument, California
TLDR
Rodent populations were studied during a 29-month period of crisis and recovery of food resources, and Dipodomys merriami is able to maintain a population density exceeding those of other nocturnal rodents, except P. longimembris, when this latter species is active.
Histomorphic changes in the ovary during the estrous cycle of a wild rat, Bandicota bengalensis
TLDR
Histomorphic changes in the ovary of Bandicota bengalensis were studied during various stages of the estrous cycle, finding the number of atretic follicles was highest at diestrus and lowest at estrus.
DEMOGRAPHY OF A POPULATION COLLAPSE: THE NORTHERN IDAHO GROUND SQUIRREL (SPERMOPHILUS BRUNNEUS BRUNNEUS)
TLDR
The ultimate cause of the population's collapse was inadequacy of food resources, particularly seeds, due to drying of the habitat and changes in plant species composition, likely the result of fire suppression and grazing.
Identification of hairs of three Asian commensal mammals: Suncus murinus, Bandicota bengalensis, and Rattus exulans.

  • 1994
TLDR
The study showed that hairs of B. bengalensis and R. exulans are easily identified to the regulatory category of "rat or mouse hair," whereas identification of S. murinus contaminant hairs is possible to the species level.
What affects bait uptake by house mice in Australian grain fields
TLDR
The proportion of RB-positive mice decreased during removal trappings, indicating effective removal of residents, and bait formulations may be used to effectively deliver fertility-control agents targeted at female house mice.
Rice‐field rats of Lower sind: abundance, reproduction and diet
TLDR
Estimates of the relative damage to the crop caused by each species at different stages of crop development were made by using data on rodent diet and abundanc.
Estrous cycle of the bandicoot rat—a rodent pest
TLDR
Variation in the duration of stages or cycle observed in the bandicoot rat is suggested to be species specific.
