Abstract. We describe the research and development work for the P2 experiment which aims for a high precision determination of the weak mixing angle $\sin^{2}\theta_{W}$sin2θW to a precision of 0.15% at a four-momentum transfer of $4.5\times 10^{-3}$4.5×10-3 GeV2. This accuracy, comparable to existing measurements at the Z pole, allows for a sensitive test of the Standard Model up to a mass scale of 50 TeV, extendable to 60 TeV. The weak mixing angle is connected to the weak charge of the proton…

Weak charge and weak radius of C12

We present a feasibility study of a simultaneous sub-percent extraction of the weak charge and the weak radius of the ${}^{12}$C nucleus using parity-violating electron scattering, based on a largely

Electroweak Physics with Polarized Electron Beams in a SuperKEKB Upgrade

Consideration is being given to upgrading the SuperKEKB e$^+$e$^-$ collider with polarized electron beams, which would open a new program of precision electroweak physics at a centre-of-mass energy

Confronting B anomalies with low-energy parity violation

Indirect searches have the potential to probe scales beyond the realm of direct searches. In this letter we consider the implications of two parity violating experiments: weak charge of proton

Searching for Z′ bosons at the P2 experiment

The P2 experiment aims at high-precision measurements of the parity-violating asymmetry in elastic electron-proton and electron-12C scatterings with longitudinally polarized electrons. We discuss

Measurement of the beam-normal single-spin asymmetry for elastic electron scattering from C12 and Al27

We report measurements of the parity-conserving beam-normal single-spin elastic scattering asymmetries $B_n$ on $^{12}$C and $^{27}$Al, obtained with an electron beam polarized transverse to its

Searching for new physics from SMEFT and leptoquarks at the P2 experiment

The P2 experiment aims at high-precision measurements of the parity-violating asymmetry in elastic electron-proton and electron-C scatterings with longitudinally polarized electrons. We discuss here

The electromagnetic coupling $\alpha$ and the electroweak mixing angle $\theta_{\mathrm{W}}$ are parameters of the Standard Model (SM) that enter precision SM tests and play a fundamental r\^ole in

Weak mixing angle in the Thomson limit

A bstractWe present a calculation of the weak mixing angle in the MS¯$$ \overline{\mathrm{MS}} $$ renormalization scheme which is relevant for experiments performed at very low energies or momentum

Reduced uncertainty of the axial γZ -box diagram correction to the proton’s weak charge

We present the fully up-to-date calculation of the $\gamma Z$-box correction which needs to be taken into account to determine the weak mixing angle at low energies from parity-violating electron

Determination of the weak charge of the proton through parity violating asymmetry measurements in the elastic e+p scattering

The Qweak experiment has taken data to make a 2.5% measurement of parity violating elastic e+p asymmetry in the four momentum transfer region of 0.0250 (GeV/c)2. This asymmetry is proportional to the

Precision measurement of the weak mixing angle in Møller scattering.

A precision measurement of the parity-violating asymmetry in fixed target electron-electron (Møller) scattering leads to the determination of the weak mixing angle, which sets constraints on new physics effects at the TeV scale.

Parameterization-based tracking for the P2 experiment

The P2 experiment in Mainz aims to determine the weak mixing angle θW at low momentum transfer by measuring the parity-violating asymmetry of elastic electronproton scattering. In order to achieve

First determination of the weak charge of the proton.

The Q(weak) experiment has measured the parity-violating asymmetry in ep elastic scattering at Q(2)=0.025(GeV/c)(2), employing 145 μA of 89% longitudinally polarized electrons on a 34.4 cm long

Measurement of the neutral weak form factors of the proton

We have measured the parity-violating electroweak asymmetry in the elastic scattering of polarized electrons from the proton. The kinematic point [{l_angle}{theta}{sub lab }{r_angle}=12.3{degree} and
