We present new VLA observations of the H I medium of the Local Group dwarf galaxies Sag DIG, LGS 3, and Phoenix. Sag DIG is a gas-rich, blue dwarf irregular with some known recent star formation, whereas LGS 3 and Phoenix are gas-poor, red galaxies of intermediate irregular/spheroidal type with little recent star formation. These galaxies complete a small sample of Local Group and near-Local Group irregular and elliptical galaxies that have been mapped in H I and, where possible, in CO. We…
Star Formation and the Interstellar Medium in Four Dwarf Irregular Galaxies
We present new, high-sensitivity VLA observations of H I in four dwarf galaxies (UGCA 292, GR 8, DDO 210, and DDO 216), and we use these data to study interactions between star formation and the
The extended structure of the dwarf irregular galaxy Sagittarius
We present a detailed study of the stellar and H i structure of the dwarf irregular galaxy Sagittarius. We use new deep and wide field photometry to trace the surface brightness profile of the galaxy
The H i hole and AGB stellar population of the Sagittarius dwarf irregular galaxy - HST proper-motion decontamination
Using two HST/ACS data-sets that are separated by ~2 years has allowed us to derive the relative proper-motion for the Sagittarius dwarf irregular (SagDIG) and reduce the heavy foreground Galactic
The Star Formation History of LGS 3
We have determined the distance and star formation history of the Local Group dwarf galaxy LGS 3 from deep Hubble Space Telescope WFPC2 observations. LGS 3 is intriguing because ground-based
Star formation history and evolution of gas-rich dwarf galaxies in the Centaurus A group
We analyse the properties of three unusual dwarf galaxies in the Centaurus A group discovered with the HIPASS survey. From their optical morphology, they appear to be low surface brightness dwarf
Star Formation in Sculptor Group Dwarf Irregular Galaxies and the Nature of “Transition” Galaxies
We present new Hα narrowband imaging of the H II regions in eight Sculptor group dwarf irregular (dI) galaxies. The Hα luminosities of the detected H II regions range from some of the faintest
The CO content of the Local Group dwarf irregular galaxies IC 5152, UGCA 438 and the Phoenix dwarf
We present a search for CO(1 → 0) emission in three Local Group dwarf irregular galaxies: IC 5152, the Phoenix dwarf and UGCA 438, using the ATNF Mopra radio telescope. Our scans largely cover the
HST/ACS observations of the old and metal-poor sagittarius dwarf irregular galaxy
We have obtained deep color−magnitude diagrams (CMDs) of the Sagittarius dwarf irregular galaxy with the Advanced Camera for Surveys (ACS) on board the Hubble Space Telescope. The new diagrams show
We have traced the spatial distributions of intermediate-age and old stars in nine dwarf galaxies in the distant parts of the Local Group, using multi-epoch 3.6 and 4.5 μm data from the DUST in
Solo dwarfs I: survey introduction and first results for the Sagittarius dwarf irregular galaxy
We introduce the Solitary Local Dwarfs Survey (Solo), a wide field photometric study targeting every isolated dwarf galaxy within 3 Mpc of the Milky Way. Solo is based on (u)gi multi-band imaging

We present new, high-resolution observations of the interstellar medium (ISM) in the two dwarf elliptical galaxies NGC 185 and NGC 205, as well as a new upper limit on the H I content of the dwarf
The Absence of Diffuse Gas around the Dwarf Spheroidal Galaxy Leo I
We have obtained spectra of three QSO/AGNs with the GHRS aboard the Hubble Space Telescope to search for absorption from low column density gas in the halo of the dwarf spheroidal (dSph) galaxy Leo
The H I content of the local group dwarf (spheroidal or irregular?) galaxy phoenix
Neutral hydrogen was detected in the Local Group dwarf galaxy Phoenix. The 21 cm H I line emission, observed at a heliocentric radial velocity of 56 km/s, is clearly separated from a much larger
The Stellar Population of the Carina Dwarf Spheroidal Galaxy. I. A New Color- Magnitude Diagram for the Giant and the Horizontal Branches
We report on the first in a series of studies of the Carina dwarf spheroidal galaxy, a nearby satellite of our Galaxy. Our two major results are: 1) precise BI photometry ($\sigma_{B-I} \simlt 0.05$
A survey for extra-H II region ionized gas structures in irregular galaxies
We have conducted a deep Hα imaging survey of 51 irregular and amorphous galaxies with the objective of searching for large ionized gas structures outside of normal H II regions. In this sample 12%
Dwarf galaxies, cold dark matter, and biased galaxy formation
A reexamination is conducted of the formation of dwarf, diffuse, metal-poor galaxies due to supernova-driven winds, in view of data on the systematic properties of dwarfs in the Local Group and Virgo
The Lyman-Continuum Fluxes and Stellar Parameters of O and Early B-Type Stars
Using the results of the most recent stellar atmosphere models applied to a sample of hot stars, we construct calibrations of effective temperature (T(sub eff)), and gravity (log(sub g)) with a
Molecular Clouds in the Dwarf Elliptical Galaxy NGC 205
We present observations of CO emission in NGC 205 (a dwarf elliptical companion of M31) obtained with the Berkeley-Illinois-Maryland Association (BIMA) array and the IRAM 30 m telescope. We compare
Phoenix - An intermediate dwarf galaxy in the Local Group
CCD BVI photometry of the Local Group dwarf galaxy Phoenix is presented. Phoenix looks like a dwarf spheroidal with a sprinkle of young blue stars. The apparent V and I magnitudes of its red giants
A search has been conducted for CO in 16 dwarf irregular galaxies selected to span a wide range of infrared luminosity and color. CO was detected in six dwarf galaxies spanning the entire range in
