The genus Hyalodothis was described by Patouillard and Hariot (1893) as a monotypic genus with Hyalodothis clavus the type species. A second species, H. caricis, was included in a footnote as a doubtful member of the genus since it was described from a specimen with immature hymenium. My investigations of H. caricis have shown it to belong to a group of fungi distinct from H. clavus, and these results will be reported in a future paper.
