Objective: Dandy-Walker syndrome (DWS) is a rare neurologic multi-entity malformation. This review aimed at reporting its main nonneurologic comorbidities. Methods: Following PRISMA guidelines, search in Medline was conducted (2000-2014, keyword: dandy-walker). Age, sex, country, DWS type, consanguinity or siblings with DWS, and recorded coexistent conditions (by ICD10 category) were extracted for 187 patients (46.5% male, 43% from Asia) from 168 case reports. Results: Diagnosis was most often… Expand
Epidemiology of Dandy-Walker Malformation in Europe: A EUROCAT Population-Based Registry Study
TLDR
This European population-based study provides the epidemiological profile of Dandy-Walker malformation, a rare and severe congenital anomaly of the posterior fossa affecting the development of the cerebellum and the fourth ventricle, and identifies a total of 734 cases, including 562 DW malformation cases and 172 DW variant cases. Expand
Hydrocephalus and Dandy- Walker Malformation: a review
TLDR
The correct diagnosis of Dandy Walker malformation can be made through careful interpretation of magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) and cerebrospinal fluid (CSF) flow studies. Expand
Trigeminal neuralgia caused by Dandy-walker malformation: A case report and systematic review of the literature
TLDR
A case of a 23-year-old female patient that presented with complaints of severe left orofacial pain over two years was reported, consistent with Dandy-Walker malformation findings that are suspect caused the compression in the trigeminal root entry zone that ultimately gave rise to the patient's symptoms. Expand
Dandy Walker Malformation
Dandy-Walker malformation (DWM) or syndrome is a posterior fossa anomaly characterized by agenesis or hypoplasia of the vermis and cystic enlargement of the fourth ventricle causing upwardExpand
Acute Promyelocytic Leukemia in a Child With Dandy-Walker Malformation: A Rare Association.
TLDR
The first case of acute promyelocytic leukemia (APML) in a child with DWM is reported, here, and the patient did not have features of any other genetic syndrome such as PHACE syndrome, trisomy 18, Joubert syndrome, or Kabuki syndrome. Expand
Pierquin Syndrome: Report of a New Case
TLDR
A new case of Pierquin syndrome born from consanguineous parents is reported, characterized by Dandy–Walker malformation, postaxial polydactyly, and congenital heart disease, which reinforces an autosomal recessive modality of inheritance and expands the phenotypic spectrum of this rare malformation syndrome. Expand
ACUTE LAMOTRIGINE OVERDOSE IN ADULTS: A CASE REPORT
TLDR
The case report of the patient who has been treated with epilepsy therapy with Dandy-Walker syndrome and congenital epidermolysis bullosa points to the necessity of a multidisciplinary approach of the expert team, consisting of the clinical pharmacologist and toxicologist, neurologist, dermatologist, nephrologists, and other specialists, if necessary. Expand
A Dandy-Walker malformation associated with ganglioglioma
TLDR
The Dandy-Walker malformation (DWM) is a rare congenital malformation involving the posterior (NeuN) and CD34, and negative for mutations in the v-raf murine sarcoma viral oncogenes homolog B1 fossa. Expand
Massive posterior cranial vault erosion and its reconstruction: A peculiar presentation of "mega cisterna magna".
TLDR
A peculiar case of MCM with massive posterior cranial bone erosion, presenting completely asymptomatic at an age of 8 years, without any associated co-morbidities till date, nor with any evident occipital mass at birth is reported. Expand
The incidence of hydrocephalus among patients with and without spinal muscular atrophy (SMA): Results from a US electronic health records study
  • E. Viscidi, Nasha Wang, +9 authors S. Hall
  • Medicine
  • Orphanet Journal of Rare Diseases
  • 2021
TLDR
SMA patients had an approximately fourfold increased risk of hydrocephalus compared with non-SMA controls in the era preceding nusinersen treatment, and this study may assist in properly evaluating adverse events in nusineren-treated SMA patients. Expand
