In this volume of the Metal Ions in Life Sciences series the transition metal-driven activation, transformation, and production of environmentally essential gases are discussed. These include dihydrogen (H2), methane (CH4), carbon monoxide (CO), acetylene (HC CH), dinitrogen (N2), nitrous oxide (N2O), and ammonia (NH3), as well as the smelly gases hydrogen sulfide (H2S) and dimethylsulfide (CH3-S-CH3).
