A factory would like to measure the flow rate of water Q in their piping system sketched below. One approach involves injecting a pulse of salt water at location 0 and then using conductivity probes at locations 1 and 2 to detect peak concentrations as the salt passes by. The average velocity, and hence flow rate, are determined from the time of travel between the two peaks. Assume L = 60m; inside diameter D = 2 cm; Darcy-Weisbach friction factor f = 0.02.
