We measure the power spectrum, PF(k, z), of the transmitted flux in the Lyα forest using 3035 high-redshift quasar spectra from the Sloan Digital Sky Survey. This sample is almost 2 orders of magnitude larger than any previously available data set, yielding statistical errors of ~0.6% and ~0.005 on, respectively, the overall amplitude and logarithmic slope of PF(k, z). This unprecedented statistical power requires a correspondingly careful analysis of the data and of possible systematic…

The one-dimensional power spectrum from the SDSS DR14 Lyα forests

We present a measurement of the 1D Lyα forest flux power spectrum, using the complete Baryon Oscillation Spectroscopic Survey (BOSS) and first extended-BOSS (eBOSS) quasars at zqso > 2.1,

Power spectrum of the flux in the Lyman-alpha forest from high-resolution spectra of 87 QSOs

We measure and calibrate the power spectrum of the flux in the Ly α forest at 1.8 < z < 4.6 for wavenumbers 0.003 ≤ k ≤ 0.1 s km−1 from the spectra of 87 QSOs obtained with HIRES on the Keck-I

The probability distribution function of the Lyman α transmitted flux from a sample of Sloan Digital Sky Survey quasars

We present a measurement of the probability distribution function (PDF) of the transmitted flux in the Lyman a (Lya) forest from a sample of 3492 quasars included in the Sloan Digital Sky Survey data

Mean Transmitted Flux in the Lyα Forest from a Sample of 2QZ Quasars

The po wer spectrum of transmitted flux in the Lyforest in spectra of distant quasars gives us an information about matter power spectrum on the smallest spatial scales which is very important for

The one-dimensional Lyα forest power spectrum from BOSS

We have developed two independent methods for measuring the one-dimensional power spectrum of the transmitted flux in the Lyman-α forest. The first method is based on a Fourier transform and the

We use 2167 Sloan Digital Sky Survey quasar spectra to search for low-density oxygen in the intergalactic medium (IGM). Oxygen absorption is detected on a pixel-by-pixel basis by its correlation with

Matter power spectrum: from Ly α forest to CMB scales

We present a new compilation of inferences of the linear 3D matter power spectrum at redshift $z\, {=}\, 0$ from a variety of probes spanning several orders of magnitude in physical scale and in

A New Precision Measurement of the Small-scale Line-of-sight Power Spectrum of the Lyα Forest

We present a new measurement of the Lyα forest power spectrum at 1.8 < z < 3.4 using 74 Keck/HIRES and VLT/UVES high-resolution, high-signal-to-noise-ratio quasar spectra. We developed a custom

Broadband distortion modeling in Lyman-α forest BAO fitting

In recent years, the Lyman-α absorption observed in the spectra of high-redshift quasars has been used as a tracer of large-scale structure by means of the three-dimensional Lyman-α forest

Toward a Precise Measurement of Matter Clustering: Lyα Forest Data at Redshifts 2-4

We measure the filling factor, correlation function, and power spectrum of transmitted flux in a large sample of Lyα forest spectra, comprised of 30 Keck HIRES spectra and 23 Keck LRIS spectra. We

The power spectrum of the flux distribution in the Lyman α forest of a large sample of UVES QSO absorption spectra (LUQAS)

The flux power spectra of the Lyman a forest from a sample of 27 quasi-stellar objects (QSOs) taken with the high-resolution Ultraviolet Echelle Spectrograph (UVES) on the Very Large Telescope (VLT)

Precision cosmology from the Lyman α forest: power spectrum and bispectrum

We investigate the promise of the Lya forest for high-precision cosmology in the era of the Sloan Digital Sky Survey using low-order N-point statistics. We show that, with the existing data, one can

Recovery of the Power Spectrum of Mass Fluctuations from Observations of the Lyα Forest

We present a method to recover the shape and amplitude of the power spectrum of mass fluctuations, P(k), from observations of the high-redshift Lyα forest. The method is motivated by the physical

The First Data Release of the Sloan Digital Sky Survey

The Sloan Digital Sky Survey (SDSS) has validated and made publicly available its First Data Release. This consists of 2099 deg2 of five-band (u, g, r, i, z) imaging data, 186,240 spectra of

Sloan Digital Sky Survey: Early Data Release

The Sloan Digital Sky Survey (SDSS) is an imaging and spectroscopic survey that will eventually cover approximately one-quarter of the celestial sphere and collect spectra of ≈106 galaxies, 100,000

The Observed Probability Distribution Function, Power Spectrum, and Correlation Function of the Transmitted Flux in the Lyα Forest

A sample of eight quasars observed at high resolution and signal-to-noise ratio is used to determine the transmitted flux probability distribution function (TFPDF), and the power spectrum and

A Feature at z ∼ 3.2 in the Evolution of the Lyα Forest Optical Depth

The effective optical depth in the Lyα forest region of 1061 low-resolution QSO spectra drawn from the SDSS database decreases with decreasing redshift over the range 2.5 ≤ z ≤ 4. Although the

The Lyman-Alpha Forest in the Cold Dark Matter Model

Cosmological simulations with gas provide a detailed description of the intergalactic medium, which makes possible predictions of neutral hydrogen absorption in the spectra of background QSOs. We
