We present Hα fluxes, star formation rates (SFRs) and equivalent widths (EWs) for a sample of 156 nearby galaxies observed in the 12CO J= 3–2 line as part of the James Clerk Maxwell Telescope Nearby Galaxies Legacy Survey. These are derived from images and values in the literature and from new Hα images for 72 galaxies which we publish here. We describe the sample, observations and procedures to extract the Hα fluxes and related quantities. We discuss the SFR properties of our sample and… Expand
Gas, Dust and Star Formation in Nearby Galaxies as Seen with the JCMT
Abstract We combine 12CO J = 3 − 2 for 155 nearby galaxies, obtained as part of the James Clerk Maxwell Telescope (JCMT) Nearby Galaxies Legacy Survey (NGLS), with star formation rates derived fromExpand
The JCMT Nearby Galaxies Legacy Survey X. Environmental Effects on the Molecular Gas and Star Formation Properties of Spiral Galaxies
We present a study of the molecular gas properties in a sample of 98 H I – flux selected spiral galaxies within ∼25 Mpc, using the CO J = 3 − 2 line observed with the James Clerk Maxwell Telescope.Expand
Hα imaging of the Herschel Reference Survey The star formation properties of a volume-limited, K-band-selected sample of nearby late-type galaxies ,
We present new Hα+[NII] imaging data of late-type galaxies in the Herschel Reference Survey aimed at studying the star formation properties of a K-band-selected, volume-limited sample of nearbyExpand
The JCMT Nearby Galaxies Legacy Survey -- XI. -- Environmental Variations in the Atomic and Molecular Gas Radial Profiles of Nearby Spiral Galaxies
We present an analysis of the radial profiles of a sample of 43 HI-flux selected spiral galaxies from the Nearby Galaxies Legacy Survey (NGLS) with resolved James Clerk Maxwell Telescope (JCMT) COExpand
The void galaxy survey: Star formation properties
We study the star formation properties of 59 void galaxies as part of the Void Galaxy Survey (VGS). Current star formation rates are derived from H alpha and recent star formation rates from near-UVExpand
Characterizing the Circumgalactic Medium of Nearby Galaxies with HST/COS and HST/STIS Absorption-Line Spectroscopy: II. Methods and Models
We present basic data and modeling for a survey of the cool, photo-ionized Circum-Galactic Medium (CGM) of low-redshift galaxies using far-UV QSO absorption line probes. This survey consists ofExpand
HIghMass-HIGH H I MASS, H I-RICH GALAXIES AT z ∼ 0 SAMPLE DEFINITION, OPTICAL AND Hα IMAGING, AND STAR FORMATION PROPERTIES
We present first results of the study of a set of exceptional H I sources identified in the 40% ALFALFA extragalactic H I survey catalog α.40 as both being H I massive ($M_{{\rm H}\,\scriptsize{I}}Expand
Hα kinematics of S4G spiral galaxies – II. Data description and non-circular motions
We present a kinematical study of 29 spiral galaxies included in the Spitzer Survey of Stellar Structure in Galaxies, using Ha Fabry Perot (FP) data obtained with the Galaxy Ha Fabry Perot SystemExpand
Massive star formation in galaxies with excess ultraviolet emission
From an analysis of almost 2000 GALEX images of galaxies with morphological types ranging from E to Sab, we have found a significant subset (28%) that show UV emission outside R25. We have obtainedExpand
Spatial distributions of core-collapse supernovae in infrared-bright galaxies
We have measured the correlation between the locations of core-collapse supernovae (CCSNe) and host galaxy light in the Hα line, near ultraviolet (NUV), R-band and Ks-band to constrain theExpand

The Hα Galaxy Survey ⋆ I. The galaxy sample, Hα narrow-band observations and star formation parameters for 334 galaxies
We discuss the selection and observations of a large sample of nearby galaxies, which we are using to quantify the star formation activity in the local Universe. The sample consists of 334 galaxiesExpand
COMPARISON OF Hα AND UV STAR FORMATION RATES IN THE LOCAL VOLUME: SYSTEMATIC DISCREPANCIES FOR DWARF GALAXIES
Using a complete sample of ~300 star-forming galaxies within 11 Mpc of the Milky Way, we evaluate the consistency between star formation rates (SFRs) inferred from the far ultraviolet (FUV)Expand
