We apply a novel equation of state (EoS) that includes the surface tension contribution induced by interparticle interaction and asymmetry between neutrons and protons, to the study of neutron star (NS) properties. This elaborated EoS is obtained from the virial expansion applied to multicomponent particle mixtures with hard core repulsion. The considered model is in full concordance with all the known properties of normal nuclear matter, provides a high-quality description of the proton flow…

Neutron Star Cooling Within the Equation of State With Induced Surface Tension

We study the thermal evolution of neutron stars described within the equation of state with induced surface tension (IST) that reproduces properties of normal nuclear matter, fulfills the proton flow

Asteroseismology: Radial oscillations of neutron stars with realistic equation of state

We study radial oscillations of non-rotating neutron stars (NSs) in four-dimensional General Relativity. The interior of the NS was modelled within a recently proposed multicomponent realistic

Tidal Deformability as a Probe of Dark Matter in Neutron Stars

The concept of boson stars (BSs) was first introduced by Kaup and Ruffini-Bonazzola in the 1960s. Following this idea, we investigate an effect of self-interacting asymmetric bosonic dark matter (DM)

The concept of induced surface and curvature tensions for EoS of hard discs and hard spheres

Mathematically rigorous derivation of the hadron matter equation of state within the induced surface and curvature tensions approach is worked out. Such an equation of state allows one to go beyond

On the desert between neutron star and black hole remnants.

The occurrence of a desert between neutron star (NS) and black hole (BH) remnants is reviewed. The dependence of stellar remnants on the zero age main sequence (ZAMS) progenitor mass for solar

Neutron stars: New constraints on asymmetric dark matter

We study an impact of asymmetric dark matter on properties of the neutron stars and their ability to reach the two solar masses limit, which allows us to present a new range of masses of dark matter

Alternative formulation of the induced surface and curvature tensions approach

We develop a novel method to analyze the excluded volume of the multicomponent mixtures of classical hard spheres in the grand canonical ensemble. The method is based on the Laplace-Fourier transform

Second look to the Polyakov loop Nambu–Jona-Lasinio model at finite baryonic density

We revisit the Polyakov Loop coupled Nambu-Jona-Lasinio model that maintains the Polyakov loop dynamics in the limit of zero temperature. This is of interest for astrophysical applications in the

Nuclear Physics and Astrophysics Constraints on the High Density Matter Equation of State

(1) This review has been written in memory of Steven Moszkowski who unexpectedly passed away in December 2020. It has been inspired by our many years of discussions. Steven’s enthusiasm, drive and

Abstract. The necessary conditions to derive the quantum Van der Waals (VdW) equation of state (EoS) with hard-core repulsion from the quantum partition are discussed for the one-component case. This

Neutron Stars: A Novel Equation of State with Induced Surface Tension

A novel equation of state with the surface tension induced by particles’ interactions was generalized to describe the properties of the neutron stars (NSs). In this equation the interaction between

THE NEUTRON STAR MASS–RADIUS RELATION AND THE EQUATION OF STATE OF DENSE MATTER

The equation of state (EOS) of dense matter has been a long-sought goal of nuclear physics. EOSs generate unique mass versus radius (M–R) relations for neutron stars, the ultra-dense remnants of

Hadron resonance gas model with induced surface tension

Abstract. Here we present a generalization of the multicomponent Van der Waals equation of state in the grand canonical ensemble. For the one-component case the third and fourth virial coefficients

Influence of flow constraints on the properties of the critical endpoint of symmetric nuclear matter

We propose a novel family of equations of state for symmetric nuclear matter based on the induced surface tension concept for the hard-core repulsion. It is shown that having only four adjustable

Skyrme interaction and nuclear matter constraints

This paper presents a detailed assessment of the ability of the 240 Skyrme interaction parameter sets in the literature to satisfy a series of criteria derived from macroscopic properties of nuclear

THE EQUATION OF STATE FROM OBSERVED MASSES AND RADII OF NEUTRON STARS

We determine an empirical dense matter equation of state (EOS) from a heterogeneous data set of six neutron stars: three Type-I X-ray bursters with photospheric radius expansion, studied by Özel et

A unified equation of state of dense matter and neutron star structure

An equation of state (EOS) of neutron star matter, describing both the neutron star crust and the liquid core, is calculated. It is based on the eective nuclear interaction SLy of the Skyrme type,

The Nuclear Equation of State and Neutron Star Masses

Neutron stars are valuable laboratories for the study of dense matter. Recent observations have uncovered both massive and low-mass neutron stars and have also set constraints on neutron star radii.
