Male Hybomitra hinei wrighti hovered over sand roads in Florida, presumably waiting for passing females. Slow-motion cinematography revealed that, when presented with a small, fast-moving object, the flies changed directions to chase the object, using a half loop and roll. This is quite similar to an aerobatic maneuver known as the Immelmann turn.
