This article examines the relationship between African American folk religion and American representations of Hinduism and yoga in the early twentieth century. The essay focuses on how Westernized notions of yoga and Hinduism were absorbed by Hoodoo during the period. The essay traces how hybridized products and practices were manufactured, marketed, and widely sold.
