The HSS3/4 enhancer of Crlz1-IgJ locus was first characterized with regard to the activity of HSS1 IgJ promoter in the plasma cells, where both of HSS3/4 enhancer and HSS1 IgJ promoter were found to be opened simultaneously to drive the IgJ gene expression. Unexpectedly, the HSS3/4 enhancer was also found to be opened in the pre-B cells. However, this opening of HSS3/4 enhancer in the pre-B cells could not be related to the IgJ gene expression, because neither the IgJ promoter was opened nor… Expand
The promoter of the Immunoglobulin J Chain gene receives its authentic enhancer activity through the abutting MEF2 and PU.1 sites in a DNA-looping interaction.
A DNA-looping interaction between the IgJ promoter and its enhancer was demonstrated using chromosome conformation capture assays not only in IgJ-expressing S194 plasma cells but also during interleukin-2-induced BCL1 B-cell terminal differentiation. Expand
Foxa2 (HNF-3beta) regulates expression of hepatotrophic factor ALR in liver cells.
Analysis of how ALR is regulated in hepatic tissues and which transcription factors might regulate its tissue-specific expression indicates that this regulation may be amplified by IL-6. Expand
Expression and regulation of liver regeneration associated protein ALR under patho-physiological conditions
It was shown that ALR plays a role in hepatic regeneration independent of its cause and is regulated by upstream factors of liver regeneration like cytokines, and application of ALR represents a promising therapeutical strategy for diseases in which EMT is involved. Expand

Dynamic Chromatin Remodeling in the Vicinity of J Chain Gene for the Regulation of Two Stage-specific Genes during B Cell Differentiation
The dynamic regulation of chromatin structure during B Cell differentiation for the expression of two stage-specific genes will provide a good model system for the study of B cell differentiation and gene expression. Expand

It is found that the conversion of 70Z/3 pre-B lymphocytes to cells with a macrophage-like phenotype is associated with the loss of E2A and EBF and together these transcription factors coordinately regulate numerous B lineage–associated genes. Expand
A Stat5-overlapping site is critical for the IgJ enhancer activity in the plasma cells and bound by a ubiquitous protein.
The protein binding specifically to the Stat5-overlapping site was shown to be expressed rather ubiquitously in B and non-B cells, and its molecular weight appeared to be below 52 kDa as determined in the UV-crosslinking-coupled SDS-PAGE. Expand
Early B cell factor cooperates with Runx1 and mediates epigenetic changes associated with mb-1 transcription
EBF and the basic helix-loop-helix transcription factor E47 each contributed to epigenetic modifications of the mb-1 promoter, including CpG demethylation and nucleosomal remodeling, which suggest a molecular basis for the hierarchical dependence of Pax5 function on EBF and E2A in B lymphocyte development. Expand
Coordinate regulation of B cell differentiation by the transcription factors EBF and E2A.
It is found that Ebf+/- E2a+/- mice display a marked defect in pro-B cell differentiation at a stage later than observed in the single homozygous mutant mice, and EBF directly binds and activates the Pax5 promoter. Expand
A stage-specific enhancer of immunoglobulin J chain gene is induced by interleukin-2 in a presecretor B cell stage.
Interleukin-2 (IL-2)-induced transcription of the J chain gene was used as a model for analyzing cytokine regulation during B cell development and it was shown that the enhancer is activated at this stage by an IL-2 signal that functions by opening the enhancing chromatin and stimulating STAT5 to bind to a STAT5 element critical for the enhancers induction. BLyF, a novel cell-type- and stage-specific regulator of the B-lymphocyte gene mb-1.
The mb-1 gene encodes an integral membrane protein that appears to be required for the surface expression and signalling function(s) of the immunoglobulin receptor on B lymphocytes, and a novel cell-type- and stage-specific transcription factor termed BLyF appears to positively regulate transcription. Identification of a tissue‐ and differentiation stage‐specific enhancer of the VpreB1 gene
The VpreB and λ5 genes encode proteins that associate non‐covalently to form the so‐called surrogate light (SL) chain, and it is shown that a transcription factor binds to two such elements, and that at least one of these sites is involved in determining enhancer activity. Expand
Oct-2 regulates CD36 gene expression via a consensus octamer, which excludes the co-activator OBF-1.
It is concluded that Oct-2 activates CD36 gene expression in mouse B cells via the octamer element in the promoter, and CD36 is the first example of anOct-2-dependent gene whose expression in B cells is independent of OBF-1. Expand
EBF and E47 collaborate to induce expression of the endogenous immunoglobulin surrogate light chain genes.
It is suggested that EBF and E47 synergize to activate expression of a subset of genes that define an early stage of the B cell lineage. Expand
