We study the relationship between the H i specific angular momentum ($\rm j_{g}$) and the H i mass ($\rm M_{g}$) for a sample of galaxies with well-measured H i rotation curves. We find that the relation is well described by an unbroken power law $\rm j_{g}$ ∝ $\rm M_{g}$α over the entire mass range (107–1010.5 M⊙), with α = 0.89 ± 0.05 (scatter 0.18 dex). This is in reasonable agreement with models which assume that evolutionary processes maintain H i discs in a marginally stable state. The… Expand

The angular momentum-mass relation: a fundamental law from dwarf irregulars to massive spirals
In a $\Lambda$CDM Universe, the specific stellar angular momentum ($j_\ast$) and stellar mass ($M_\ast$) of a galaxy are correlated as a consequence of the scaling existing for dark matter haloesExpand
The influence of angular momentum and environment on the H i gas of late-type galaxies
We use high-resolution HI data from the WHISP survey to study the HI and angular momentum properties of a sample of 114 late-type galaxies. We explore the specific baryonic angular momentum --Expand
The relation between specific baryon angular momentum and mass for a sample of nearby low-mass galaxies with resolved H I kinematics
This paper investigates the relationship between specific baryon angular momentum $j_\mathrm{b}$ and baryon mass $M_\mathrm{b}$ for a sample of nearby late-type galaxies with resolved HI kinematics.Expand
New lessons from the H i size–mass relation of galaxies
We revisit the H i size-mass relation of galaxies with a sample of more than 500 nearby galaxies covering over five orders of magnitude in H i mass and more than 10 B-band magnitudes. The relation isExpand
Angular Momentum and Galaxy Formation Revisited: Scaling Relations for Disks and Bulges
We show that the stellar specific angular momentum j_*, mass M_*, and bulge fraction beta_* of normal galaxies of all morphological types are consistent with a simple model based on a linearExpand
This work presents high-precision measurements of the specific baryon angular momentum j b contained in stars, atomic gas, and molecular gas, out to 10 scale radii, in 16 nearby spiral galaxies ofExpand
Angular Momentum Regulates Atomic Gas Fractions of Galactic Disks
We show that the mass fraction f_atm = 1.35*MHI/M of neutral atomic gas (HI and He) in isolated local disk galaxies of baryonic mass M is well described by a straightforward stability model for flatExpand
Angular momentum of dwarf galaxies
Mass and specific angular momentum are two fundamental physical parameters of galaxies. We present measurements of the baryonic mass and specific angular momentum of 11 void dwarf galaxies derivedExpand
The small scatter of the baryonic Tully-Fisher relation
In a LCDM cosmology, the baryonic Tully-Fisher relation (BTFR) is expected to show significant intrinsic scatter resulting from the mass-concentration relation of dark matter halos and theExpand
Galaxy disc scaling relations: A tight linear galaxy–halo connection challenges abundance matching
In ΛCDM cosmology, to first order, galaxies form out of the cooling of baryons within the virial radius of their dark matter halo. The fractions of mass and angular momentum retained in the baryonicExpand
