We present and discuss new determinations of metallicity, rotation, age, kinematics, and Galactic orbits for a com- plete, magnitude-limited, and kinematically unbiased sample of 16 682 nearby F and G dwarf stars. Our ∼63 000 new, accurate radial-velocity observations for nearly 13 500 stars allow identification of most of the binary stars in the sample and, together with published uvbyβ photometry, Hipparcos parallaxes, Tycho-2 proper motions, and a few earlier radial velocities, complete the… Expand

New constraints on the chemical evolution of the solar neighbourhood and galactic disc(s) - improved astrophysical parameters for the Geneva-Copenhagen Survey
We present a re-analysis of the Geneva-Copenhagen survey, which benefits from the infrared flux method to improve the accuracy of the derived stellar effective temperatures and uses the latter toExpand
Distance determination for RAVE stars using stellar models - III. The nature of the RAVE survey and Milky Way chemistry
We apply the method of Burnett & Binney (2010, MNRAS, 407, 339) for the determination of stellar distances and parameters to the internal catalogue of the RAdial Velocity Experiment (RAVE; SteinmetzExpand
Stellar substructures in the solar neighbourhood . IV. Kinematic Group 1 in the Geneva-Copenhagen survey
Context. From correlations between orbital parameters, several new coherent groups of stars were recently identified in the Galactic disc and suggested to correspond to remnants of disruptedExpand
Dependence of kinematics on the age of stars in the solar neighborhood
The variations of kinematic parameters with age are considered for a sample of 15 402 thin-disk O-F stars with accurate α, δ, µ, and π > 3 mas from the Hipparcos catalogue and radial velocities fromExpand
Stellar substructures in the solar neighbourhood. III. Kinematic group 2 in the Geneva-Copenhagen survey
Galactic Archeology is a powerful tool for investigating the formation and evolution of the Milky Way. We use this technique to study kinematic groups of F- and G-stars in the solar neighbourhood.Expand
Radial velocities of K–M dwarfs and local stellar kinematics
Aims. The goal of this paper is to present complete radial-velocity data for the spectroscopically selected McCormick sample of nearby K–M dwarfs and, based on these and supplementary data, toExpand
Kinematics of solar neighborhood stars and its dependence on age and metallicity
We have constructed a catalog containing the best available astrometric, photometric, radial velocity and astrophysical data for mainly F-type and G-type stars (called the Astrometric CatalogExpand
Galactic orbits of Hipparcos stars: Classification of stars
The Galactic orbits of 27 440 stars of all classes with accurate coordinates and parallaxes of more than 3 mas from the Hipparcos catalogue, proper motions from the Tycho-2 catalogue, and radialExpand
Kinematics and history of the solar neighbourhood revisited
We use proper motions and parallaxes from the new reduction of Hipparcos data and Geneva-Copenhagen radial velocities for a complete sample of ∼15 000 main-sequence and subgiant stars, and new PadovaExpand
A high-resolution spectroscopic survey of late-type stars: chromospheric activity, rotation, kinematics, and age
Aims. We present a compilation of spectroscopic data from a survey of 144 chromospherically active young stars in the solar neighborhood, which may be used to investigate different aspects of itsExpand

The Geneva–Copenhagen Survey of the Solar Neighbourhood
Abstract We report on a new survey of metallicities, ages, and Galactic orbits for a complete, magnitude-limited, and kinematically unbiased all-sky sample of 16 682 nearby F- and G-dwarfs. Our ∼ 63Expand
Kinematics of the outer stellar halo
We test whether the simple model for the kinematics of the Galactic stellar halo (in particular the outer halo) proposed by Sommer-Larsen, Flynn & Christensen (SLFC) is physically realizable, byExpand
Simulations of the heating of the Galactic stellar disc
The velocity dispersion of nearby stars in the Galactic disc is well known to increase substantially with age; this is the so-called age-velocity relation, and is interpreted as a 'heating' of theExpand
Evolutionary tracks and isochrones for low- and intermediate-mass stars: From 0.15 to 7 , and from to 0.03
We present a large grid of stellar evolution- ary tracks, which are suitable to modelling star clusters and galaxies by means of population synthesis. The tracks are presented for the initialExpand
Stellar Radial Velocities
An estimate of the time variation of the O/H radial gradient from planetary nebulae
Radial abundance gradients are a common feature of spiral galaxies, and in the case of the Galaxy both the magnitude of the gradients and their variations are among the most important constraints ofExpand
Chemical abundances of old metal-rich stars in the solar neighborhood
We report on chemical abundances for 15 old metal-rich stars in the solar neighborhood based on high-resolution, high signal-to-noise ratio observations. It is found that [O/Fe], [S/Fe], and probablyExpand
Elemental abundance trends in the Galactic thin and thick disks as traced by nearby F and G dwarf stars
Based on spectra from F and G dwarf stars, we present elementalabundance trends in the Galactic thin and thick disks in the metallicityregime -0.8< [Fe/H < +0.4. Our findings can besummarized asExpand
Line-of-Sight Reddening Predictions: Zero Points, Accuracies, the Interstellar Medium, and the Stellar Populations of Elliptical Galaxies
Revised (B-V)0-Mg2 data, which are used to test reddening predictions, are presented for 402 elliptical galaxies. These reddening predictions can tell us both what the intrinsic errors are in thisExpand
