We propose a cosmological scenario in which the hot big bang universe is produced by the collision of a brane in the bulk space with a bounding orbifold plane, beginning from an otherwise cold, vacuous, static universe. The model addresses the cosmological horizon, flatness and monopole problems and generates a nearly scale-invariant spectrum of density perturbations without invoking superluminal expansion (inflation). The scenario relies, instead, on physical phenomena that arise naturally in…

Braneworld flux inflation
We propose a geometrical model of brane inflation where inflation is driven by the flux generated by opposing brane charges and terminated by the collision of the branes, with charge annihilation. We
Ekpyrotic cosmology with a zero-shear S-brane
In a recent paper we proposed a mechanism for a continuous transition between a contracting Ekpyrotic phase and the Standard Big Bang phase of expansion: the bounce is generated by an S-brane which
Brane big bang brought on by a bulk bubble
We propose an alternative inflationary universe scenario in the context of Randall-Sundrum braneworld cosmology. In this new scenario the existence of extra dimension(s) plays an essential role.
Bouncing cosmology in a curved braneworld
We explore the possibility of a non-singular bounce in our universe from a warped braneworld scenario with dynamical branes and a non-zero brane cosmological constant. Such models naturally
A Cosmological Model of Holographic Brane Gravity
A cosmological scenario with two branes (A and B) moving in a 5-dimensional bulk is considered. As in the case of ecpyrotic and born-again braneworld models it is possible that the branes collide.
Cosmology on compact and stable supergravity background
We propose a cosmological model of D3-brane universe on compact and stable supergravity background of wrapped D7-branes in type IIB string theory previously argued to be dual to pure N=1 SU(N) gauge
Cosmological Perturbations on a Bouncing Brane
The cosmological perturbations on a bouncing brane are studied. The brane is moving inside a Klebanov–Strassler throat where the infrared region of the geometry is smoothly cut off. For an observer
Pyrotechnic Universe
One of the central points of the ekpyrotic cosmological scenario based on Hor̆ava-Witten theory is that we live on a negative tension brane. However, the tension of the visible brane in HW theory, as
