We demonstrate the extraordinary modernity of the 1924/25 “Einstein-Jordan fluctuation conundrum”, a Gedankenexperiment which led Jordan to his quantization of waves published as a separate section in the famous Born-Heisenberg-Jordan 1926 “Dreimännerarbeit”.
