This experiment was conducted to evaluate the effects of Portulaca oleracea L. powder (POP) on growth performance, carcass characteristics, antioxidant status, and blood metabolites in broiler chickens. A total of 280 one-day-old male broiler chickens were randomly assigned to 5 treatments: corn-soya bean meal as the basal control diet and the basal diet containing 0.25, 0.50, 0.75, or 1.00% of POP. Each treatment consisted of 4 replicate pens with 14 broiler chickens per pen. The results… Expand
Effects of purslane ( Portulaca oleracea L.) powder on growth performance, blood indices, and antioxidant status in broiler chickens with triiodothyronine-induced ascites
To evaluate the effects of dietary supplementation of purslane powder (PP) on performance, blood indices, and antioxidant status in broilers with triiodothyronine (T3)-induced ascites, 240 one-day-old male broiler chicks were randomly assigned to four treatments. Expand
The Effect of Different Dietary Purslane Seed (Portulaca Oleracea L.) Levels on Carcass, Blood Lipid Profile and Antioxidant Activity in Quails
It is concluded that purslane seed addition to the quail diets may affect serum antioxidant activity without changing the carcass and blood lipid profile and antioxidant activity in quails. Expand
Comparative effects of powder, aqueous and methanolic extracts of purslane (Portulaca oleracea L.) on growth performance, antioxidant status, abdominal fat deposition and plasma lipids in broiler chickens
This study was performed to evaluate the comparative effects of dietary supplementation of dried purslane powder (PP), purslane aqueous extract (PAE) and purslane methanolic extract (PME) onExpand
Effect of Adding Different Levels of Portulaca oleracea L. Seeds and Leaves Powder to The Diet on Productive and Physiological Performance of Broiler Chickens (Ross 308)
The study confirms the importance of adding powder of seeds or leaves in the broiler diet because it has a positive role in improving some of the physiological and microbial blood characteristics of the broilers. Expand
Dietary purslane (Portulaca oleracea L.) promotes the growth performance of broilers by modulation of gut microbiota
The results suggest that the addition of purslane to feed could increase the abundance of Lactobacillus in intestine, modulate the environment of gut microbiota and promote the metabolism of carbohydrates to improve its growth performance. Expand
The effect of purslane hydroextract and zinc on performance, antioxidant capacity and immunity of broiler chickens during summer conditions
Abstract. Due to negative effects of high ambient temperature, the present study was conducted to investigate the effects of Portulaca oleracea hydroextract (PHE) and zinc (Zn) on the growthExpand
Effect of dietary purslane (Portulaca oleracea L.) leaves powder on growth, immunostimulation, and protection of Nile tilapia, Oreochromis niloticus against Aeromonas hydrophila infection
Fish survival before and after bacterial infection was significantly affected by dietary purslane supplements, bacterial infection, and their interaction where dietary purSlane improved the fish resistance to A. hydrophila infection in a dose-dependent manner. Expand
Performance, Carcass Variables, and Meat Quality of Broilers Supplemented with Dietary Mexican Oregano Oil
Mexican oregano oil presents positive qualities as a plant-derived performance enhancer in broiler diets and improves of the meat quality of broilers at the levels of 200, 400 and 600 mg/kg of diet. Expand
Impacts of tea tree or lemongrass essential oils supplementation on growth, immunity, carcass traits, and blood biochemical parameters of broilers reared under different stocking densities.
Results revealed that increasing stocking density from 25 to 40 kg/m2 significantly reduced body weight and daily weight gain at different ages and TTEO treatment offers a better solution for raising broiler chickens in high stocking density. Expand
Effect of Purslane powder and Zinc supplementation on the performance, egg quality, antioxidant system and liver histopathology of lead-exposed laying Quails
It can be concluded that lead-exposure induced production of free radicals and weakened the antioxidant defenses of the quails, however, antioxidant status of quails partially improved when fed diets supplemented with 1.5 % PP and 140 ppm Zn. Expand

Effect of Portulaca oleracea extracts on growth performance and microbial populations in ceca of broilers.
The data suggest that P. oleracea extract supplementation significantly altered the cecal bacterial community without affecting the intestinal pH, and showed P. Oleracea extracts have no distinct influence on intestinal pH. Expand
Short communication. Effects of purslane extract on performance, immunity responses and cecal microbial population of broiler chickens
It was concluded that purslane inclusion had a positive significant effect on cecal microflora composition, but had no effect on immune response of broiler chickens. Expand

This study showed that adding dried purslane to the diet of laying hens significantly increased egg production and egg weights although there was no reduction in the egg cholesterol concentration. Expand
Effects of dietary essential oil components on growth performance, digestive enzymes and lipid metabolism in female broiler chickens
The present results show no effect of essential oil constituents on growth performance in female broiler chickens, but it cannot be excluded that positive effects would have been observed under less hygienic environmental conditions or when using a less digestible diet. Expand
Effects of salt stress on purslane (Portulaca oleracea) nutrition
It is revealed that purslane is relatively tolerant to conditions of moderate salinity, thus improving its potential to become a key vegetable crop for animal and human consumption. Expand
Nutritive characterization of purslane accessions as influenced by planting date
The studys shows that, in spite of its genetic diversity, purslane is one of the most abundant terrestrial vegetables sources of Omega-3 fatty acids and other essentialnutrients potentially beneficial for humans as well asanimals. Expand
Validation of Prediction Equations to Estimate the Energy Values of Feedstuffs for Broilers: Performance and Carcass Yield
The use of prediction equations resulted in better adjustment to the broiler requirements, resulting in better performance and carcass characteristics compared to theUse of tables, however, the use of energy values of feedstuffs obtained by in vivo assay is still the most effective. Expand
