Understanding the role of photoperiod regimens in regulating broiler performance and the immune response is becoming highly important. The objectives of the current investigation are to analyze the effects of photoperiod regimens on humoral and cell-mediated immune response as well as production characteristics in broiler chicken. A total number of 300 one day old male broiler chicks were divided randomly into three equal groups. For 6 weeks, the first group received continuous light (23L:1D…

THE ROLE OF PHOTOPERIOD REGIMENS ON REGULATING THE IMMUNE RESPONSE IN MALE BROILERS
TLDR
Instrumental photoperiod regimen modulates positively the immune response by up-regulating the phosphorylation protein kinase Akt and significantly stimulated the peripheral T and B-lymphocyte proliferation in male broilers.
Growth, carcass traits, immunity and oxidative status of broilers exposed to continuous or intermittent lighting programs
TLDR
It is suggested that reducing lighting hours up to 3L/1D would be more useful in enhancing feed efficiency, innate immunity, and oxidative status compared with continuous lighting programs on broilers.
Effect of Lighting Program on Productive and Physiological Performance of Broiler Chicks
TLDR
Use light schedules, 18 light (L): 6 darkness (D), showed best results for growth performance and Thyroid hormonal without any negative effect on other blood parameters.
Growth performance, antioxidant status, and nonspecific immunity in broilers under different lighting regimens
SUMMARY The present study was conducted to investigate the effects of different lighting regimens on broilers’ growth performance, antioxidant status, and nonspecific immunity. A total of 630
Effects of Intermittent Lighting on Broiler Growth Performance, Slaughter Performance, Serum Biochemical Parameters and Tibia Parameters
TLDR
It is concluded that the 4L:4D photoperiodic lighting schedule was superior to both the 2L:2DPhotoperiod and CL in broiler production.
Molecular mechanism underlying the effect of illumination time on the growth performance of broilers via changes in the intestinal bacterial community
TLDR
The results showed that prolonged illumination altered the intestinal microbial community structures of broilers, increased the absorption and utilization of polysaccharides in Broilers, and reduced the feed-to-meat ratios.
The effect of short, long, natural, and intermittent short photoperiods on meat-type Japanese quails
The present study aimed to investigate the effects of short (8L:16D), long (23L:1D), natural, and intermittent short (8L(15 min L and 45 min D):16D) lighting programs from day 7 of age on the growth
INFLUENCE OF LIGHT ON THE HEMATOLOGY, LYMPHOID ORGANS AND PRODUCTION OF THE BROILERS
TLDR
It was observed that light stressed birds had showed non-significant difference on blood cells population except lymphocytes percentage was found higher in groups D than group C, and the effect on lymphoid organs studied and the mean thymus weight of chicks in group B was adversely effected.
APPLICATION OF INTERMITTENT FEEDING AND FLASH LIGHTING REGIMENS IN BROILER CHICKENS MANAGEMENT
TLDR
It is concluded that it is possible to use the intermittent feeding regimen of 2F:2S for six cycles/day and flash lighting regimen of2CL: 1FL for 8 cycled/day in broiler management to improve growth and economic efficiency as well as to reduce abdominal fat without any adverse effect till marketing age with expected considerable saving in costs of feed and (electricity).
Brain and serum galanin, thyroid hormones, and TSH are not influenced by different photoperiod schedules in broiler chickens
TLDR
In conclusion, serum thyroid hormones, TSH, galanin, and brain Galanin were not influenced by CL, NIL, and IL programs in broiler chickens.

Effects of photoperiod and melatonin on lymphocyte activities in male broiler chickens.
TLDR
Melatonin in vitro enhanced the mitogenic response of peripheral blood T lymphocytes from 6-wk-old chickens, splenic T lymphocyte from 3-wk old chickens, andsplenic T and possibly B lymphocytesFrom 6-week-old poultry, and this regulation could be accomplished through exposing broiler chicks to intermittent lighting.
The Effect of Lighting Program and Melatonin on the Alleviation of the Negative Impact of Heat Stress on the Immune Response in Broiler Chickens
TLDR
It is indicated that intermittent light and melatonin administration can be used to ameliorate immunosuppression associated with heat stress in broiler chickens.
Effects of lighting conditions and melatonin supplementation on the cellular and humoral immune responses in Japanese quail Coturnix coturnix japonica.
TLDR
It was clear that quail placed in daily light-dark cycles (LD), possessing a diurnal rhythm of melatonin, had significantly elevated immune responses as compared to those birds in LL, and melatonin supplemented to birds exposed to LL was immuno-enhancing.
Effect of photoperiod on heterophil to lymphocyte ratio and tonic immobility duration of chickens.
TLDR
The results of the present study suggest that a near continuous light pattern can have negative consequences in reducing welfare in egg-laying hens.
Research note: evaluation of humoral and delayed hypersensitivity responses in cockerels reared under constant light or a twelve hour light:twelve hour dark photoperiod.
TLDR
Results suggest that circadian light:dark cycles may play a role in modulating the immune system in cockerels.
Effect of melatonin and lighting schedule on energy metabolism in broiler chickens.
TLDR
It is demonstrated that reduced energy expenditure for physical activity, caused by the supplementation of melatonin to the diet, might be a reason for the often observed improvement of feed conversion.
Plasma concentrations of corticosterone and thyroid hormones in broilers provided various lighting schedules.
TLDR
The purpose of this study was to measure plasma corticosterone and thyroid hormone concentrations in broilers exposed to various photoschedules and found no differences in T3 or T4 for light treatments or sampling times at 41 and 55 d.
Continuous darkness and continuous light induce structural changes in the rat thymus.
TLDR
Experimental evidence is provided that changes in the rhythm of the photoperiod have considerable effects on thymic structure of the rat, and it is concluded that constant darkness causes hypertrophy and increased cellularity of the thymus, while constant light causes involution of theThymus and death of lymphocytes.
Time‐dependent effects of melatonin on immune measurements in male Syrian hamsters
TLDR
Since melatonin injections at 08:00 hr were ineffective in altering immune measurements and correlations between reproductive measures and immune measures were high, the most parsimonious explanation for these results is that melatonin injection levels depressed reproductive hormone levels and these depressed levels altered immune measures.
