Antibodies against human herpesvirus 8 in black South African patients with cancer.
TLDR
Among black patients with cancer in South Africa, the seroprevalence of anti-HHV-8 antibodies is high and is specifically associated with Kaposi's sarcoma, particularly at high titers.
Mortality before and after HIV infection in the complete UK population of haemophiliacs
TLDR
There were 403 deaths in HIV seropositive patients during 1985-92, whereas 60 would have been predicted from rates in seronegatives, suggesting that 85% of the deaths in seropOSitive patients were due to HIV infection.
Viremia and AIDS in rhesus macaques after intramuscular inoculation of plasmid DNA encoding full-length SIVmac239.
TLDR
It is concluded that infection through intramuscular inoculation of cloned plasmid DNA encoding the entire proviral genome is reproducible and will provide a useful tool for studying viral pathogenesis.
