The diversity-multiplexing tradeoff curve was first proposed in [5] as a comprehensive metric of the system performance, in the high regime. This concept helps us to understand the resources in multiple antenna fading channels in terms of both its ability to provide spatial diversity gain and to accommodate higher data rate.
