Crossing experiments of 68 combinations within and between genera of Magnoliaceae were made in the Fairy Lake Botanical Garden based on the conventional methods of hybridization. Results revealed that the pollen vigor was various among different species. The low rate of pollen germination was not an important factor responsible for the low fruit set since owning a large number of pollens and having a high fruit set after manual crossing. The cross-compatibility commonly existed in the same…

The utility of matK gene in the phylogenetic analysis of the genus Magnolia
TLDR
The genus Magnolia might be a polyphyletic group, and Magnolia and Michelia would become two well-defined genera when the subgenus Yulania was segregated from Magnolia to be treated as an independent genus.
Genome differentiation in Magonoliaceae as revealed from meiotic pairing in interspecific and intergeneric hybrids
TLDR
Meiotic chromosome pairing indicated a high degree of homology between species within Michelia and Yulania and less homological between the genomes of these two genera, suggesting that the two generas were split at early evolution of Magnoliaceae.
Interspecific Hybridization Processes between Michelia yunnanensis and M. crassipes and Embryogenesis of the Heterozygote
. The investigation of hybridization processes and embryogenesis of heterozygote is an effective approach for early hybrids’ identification, which could provide reliable information for successful
